Mopping with a stick mop is a hassle, and the wet floor then takes half an hour to dry. A new wave of wireless wet dry vacuums, which vacuum dirt and wash the floor in one go, aims precisely at these pain points. Xiaomi is sending a well-equipped piece into this category: the Mijia Wireless Wet Dry Vacuum 5 Pro combines hot steam with powerful suction and makes no secret of its ambition to challenge brands like Dyson or Roborock.

Wet dry vacuum relies on 160°C hot steam

The main weapon of the new product is steam. According to Xiaomi, the vacuum cleaner emits a continuous stream of hot steam, which reaches up to 160°C at the boiler outlet – a temperature designed to dissolve baked-on grease and dried stains without damaging wood, tiles, or marble. A 300W boiler handles the heating, producing steam in just a few seconds, according to the manufacturer.

The brand states that in steam mode, it removes up to 99.99% of stains and improves performance by 52% compared to regular mode. However, these are its own laboratory figures, which we cannot verify ourselves, so take them with a grain of salt. Another practical detail: the head is illuminated by a blue light, which illuminates dust in dark corners and under furniture.

How much does it vacuum and how does it handle hair?

Besides steam, the vacuum cleaner relies on suction power. Turbo suction handles 26,000 Pa, and together with the roller brush, which rotates at 400 revolutions per minute, it can handle larger dirt, pet hair, and wet messes, according to Xiaomi. Thanks to the separation of water and air, it reportedly doesn’t lose power even when you lay the stick almost flat under furniture.

To prevent hair tangling, the company has implemented an improved comb with sharp teeth inspired by a shark’s jaw. According to TÜV SÜD certification, it can handle up to 4,500 strands of wet long hair without getting tangled in the brush. Anyone who wages a perpetual battle with hair in the bathroom or living room will appreciate this feature.

Xiaomi is churning out these wet dry and classic stick vacuums one after another – just a few days ago, we wrote about the cheaper 4C stick model, which can illuminate dust similarly to this new product.

After cleaning, it washes and dries itself

The annoying part of cleaning – cleaning the vacuum itself – is largely taken care of by the machine. After use, it initiates a self-cleaning cycle with 100°C hot water, which is designed to rinse dirt from the roller and eliminate odors. Xiaomi promises 99.99% effectiveness from it, but again, this is its own figure.

Next comes hot air drying. The brush, nozzle, hoses, and filter are dried by a stream of hot air to prevent them from molding and smelling in the damp – and according to the manufacturer, this happens in just five minutes and at a noise level of around 45 dB. However, a stick vacuum is not a robot, so you return it to the docking station yourself after cleaning; there, it will dry itself and prepare for next time.

On a single charge, the vacuum cleaner lasts up to 40 minutes, which, according to Xiaomi, should be enough to clean a household up to 340 m². Clean water fits into a one-liter tank, dirty water into a seven hundred milliliter tank, and the entire system separates dry and wet waste for easier cleaning of the container.

Price and availability

In China, the Mijia Wireless Wet Dry Vacuum 5 Pro launched at a regular price of 2,499 yuan, which is approximately 7,800 CZK (converted), but with a launch discount, it dropped to 2,149 yuan, or about 6,700 CZK. It is not officially coming to the Czech Republic yet, and Xiaomi has not said if or for how much it will ever arrive here.

If manual cleaning isn’t your thing and you want the vacuum to move around the apartment by itself, the brand recently also launched its most powerful robotic model globally.
