One UI 9.5 update: first look shows design changes in Samsung's overlay

For most supported Samsung devices, beta testing of the One UI 9 overlay, coupled with Android 17, is still underway. However, the South Korean giant is also intensively working on the One UI 9.5 overlay. This will arrive with the new series of flagship models, the Samsung Galaxy S27, and will bring, among other things, a redesigned visual style. First screenshots suggest the style in which the overlay’s design will be carried.

One UI 9 will traditionally bring major architectural changes associated with Android 17, while One UI 9.5 will arrive with new, exclusive overlay features and a newly refined visual. And it is precisely this that we can look at in the form of the first screenshots. At least partially, as these are only relatively small excerpts so far. On the other hand, it is precisely here that the details to which Samsung’s One UI 9.5 update pays attention will stand out well.

These screenshots reportedly come from a leaked version of the One UI 9.5 update installed on a Galaxy S26. We can see here that Samsung, in the next intergenerational version of its overlay, has focused on implementing a glass design, which Apple has popularized again. Although from the available images it looks like Samsung will not implement these visual elements as aggressively as others, for us it is clearly a shame that even this giant has succumbed and the diversity between individual overlays and systems will decrease a bit more.
