The OnePlus 15R, introduced last month, has seen its first significant price correction on the Czech market. While it cost 18,190 CZK at launch, you can now get it on Alza for 15,989 CZK in the basic 12/256 GB configuration. A discount of over 12% makes it a more interesting choice for those who want flagship performance without having to pay for the more expensive OnePlus 13. But beware – despite the attractive price, this phone has its flaws.

First phone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

The OnePlus 15R has the honor of being one of the first smartphones in the world with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. Compared to the previous generation, it offers 36% higher CPU performance and 46% better AI capabilities. In practice, this means the phone handles even the most demanding games without overheating or slowing down. Tests show that, for example, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang runs consistently at 120 FPS.

Smoothness is also ensured by 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and fast 256GB UFS 4.1 storage. While it doesn’t support a memory card, the capacity should be sufficient for most users. A 512 GB variant is also available for an additional roughly one thousand crowns.

Battery that can last three days

The biggest trump card of the OnePlus 15R is undoubtedly its 7,400mAh battery – the largest the brand has ever put into one of its phones. Reviewers agree that with normal use, the phone lasts 2.5 to 3 days without recharging. Even with intensive gaming or video recording, you’ll get a full day with plenty of reserve.

Charging is done using 80W SUPERVOOC, but in Europe, the power is limited to 55 W due to regulations. Even so, you can charge the phone from zero to 100% in approximately an hour. The charger is included in the package, although it’s an older type with a USB-A connector. What you won’t find in the package and what the phone doesn’t support, however, is wireless charging – and that can be a hindrance for many potential buyers.

Large display with high refresh rate

The front of the phone is dominated by a 6.83″ AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2800 × 1272 pixels and a maximum refresh rate of 165 Hz. However, the high frequency is only available in a few selected applications – in most cases, the display stays at 120 Hz. The maximum brightness reaches 1,800 nits, ensuring good readability even in direct sunlight.

It’s worth noting that OnePlus used an LTPS panel instead of LTPO, which its predecessor 13R had. In practice, this means the display doesn’t drop below 60 Hz, which can slightly increase power consumption. Protection is provided by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

Cameras: solid foundation, but no telephoto lens

In the camera department, the OnePlus 15R doesn’t bring any miracles. The main 50Mpx Sony IMX906 sensor with optical stabilization takes quality photos in daylight and at night. The problem arises with the accompanying 8Mpx ultrawide camera, which significantly loses quality in poorer lighting. A telephoto lens is completely absent – only 2× digital zoom is available.

The front 32Mpx camera handles selfies and video calls with reasonable quality. Video can be recorded up to 4K at 120 FPS, which is an above-standard feature even for more expensive models. The phone can shoot slow-motion videos up to 720p at 480 FPS.

Durability and connectivity at a top level

The OnePlus 15R boasts a complete set of durability certifications: IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K. This means protection against dust, water immersion, and high-pressure water jets. The construction combines a metal frame with a matte back panel that resists fingerprints.

In terms of connectivity, the phone offers Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC for contactless payments, and of course 5G. Unlocking is handled by an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader, which works reliably even with wet fingers. However, the popular Alert Slider is missing, which OnePlus replaced with a Plus Key button with programmable functions.

Software with long-term support

The phone runs on OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16. The system is fast and optimized, although some reviewers criticize its approximation to iOS design and slower animations compared to previous versions. OnePlus guarantees 4 years of major operating system updates and 6 years of security patches.

Who is the OnePlus 15R suitable for?

The OnePlus 15R makes sense for users looking for maximum battery life and top-tier performance at a reasonable price. If you play demanding games, watch a lot of videos, or simply don’t want to deal with charging every day, it’s an excellent choice. It will also be appreciated by those who need a durable phone for more demanding conditions.

Conversely, if wireless charging, a high-quality ultrawide lens, or a telephoto lens for zooming are important to you, you should rather look at the OnePlus 13 or the competing Samsung Galaxy S25 FE. Photographers should consider whether the camera setup will be sufficient for them.
