About a year has passed since the launch of the OnePlus Watch 3, so it’s time for a successor. It has now appeared in the EMVCo certification database, intended for contactless payment testing, which suggests an upcoming presentation. Along with the certification, key specifications have also leaked.

Known specifications: evolution instead of revolution

According to available information, the OnePlus Watch 4 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset, the same as its predecessor. The display is expected to remain a 1.5″ LTPO AMOLED with a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels in a 47mm case.

The 646 mAh battery capacity is practically identical to the Watch 3, which has a 648 mAh cell. Battery life should therefore be at a similar level, i.e., several days with normal use. The new OnePlus device will not even catch up with the recently launched Xiaomi Watch 5 with 930 mAh.

The main novelty is the IP69 certification, which means resistance to high-pressure hot water jets. This is an upgrade compared to the standard IP68 of the Watch 3. In practice, the watch should thus better withstand extreme conditions during sports.

Two variants?

Interestingly, the EMVCo database contains two different models: XL905 and XL907. What exactly this means is not yet clear. It could be a Pro version, or a smaller size variant similar to the Watch 3, which first came out in a 46mm and later a 43mm version.

Regarding the operating system, the leaker mentions Wear OS 5, however, the certification document refers to version 6.0. Given that Wear OS 6 has been out for almost a year, the latter option is more likely.

When exactly the watch will arrive, we don’t know yet, but it could be soon. The price at launch will likely be around 9,000 Czech crowns.

Would you get the OnePlus Watch 4?
