Leaks surrounding the next generation of Samsung’s best smartwatches are increasing. The latest one revolves around the battery and it’s a significant bite: if the numbers are accurate, the Ultra series will receive an upgrade that fans have been waiting for since the first generation. Let’s go through everything we already know about the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 model.

More than a third larger battery

The specific number was reported by SamMobile. The new generation is expected to receive a cell with a capacity of 784 mAh, which Samsung will likely present as a “typical” 800 mAh, according to custom. For comparison: the current Galaxy Watch Ultra makes do with 590 mAh, so we are talking about an increase of roughly 35%. In practice, this should mean a battery life of over three days on a single charge.

However, before we celebrate, we would like to point out that this is a leaked figure, not from the manufacturer’s laboratory, so we will only know the actual battery life during real-world use. In addition to the larger cell, an energy-efficient Snapdragon Wear Elite chip is also expected to contribute to longer times between charges. What reportedly will not change, however, is the charging speed – according to Chinese 3C certification, it will remain at 10 watts.

What do we know about the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 so far?

Under the hood, a Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset will be ticking, which is expected to provide the watches with both performance and the desired efficiency. The unveiling is anticipated at the end of July, most likely on July 22, when Samsung will also reveal the foldable Galaxy Z Flip8, Z Fold8, and for the very first time, the Z Fold8 Ultra model; the watches will then go on sale in August.

The question of connectivity is also interesting. A report previously emerged that a cheaper variant without eSIM – meaning only with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi – is being prepared, and this one is intended for Europe. The full 5G version (SM-L716), on the other hand, will only be available in the USA and South Korea, while the rest of the world, including the Czech Republic, will receive classic LTE (SM-L715F). We discussed these differences in detail in a separate article about the cheaper variant without 5G.

What about the cheaper sibling, the Galaxy Watch9?

The Ultra never arrives alone. Alongside it, the regular Galaxy Watch9 series is also expected, where the battery is also said to move forward, albeit more cautiously. The smaller 40mm version is now expected to offer 382 mAh (marketed as 400 mAh), which is 23% more than last year. The larger 44mm model will reportedly remain at 435 mAh, meaning no change. Here too, the action is powered by the Snapdragon Wear Elite, and a more elegant Watch9 Classic is also on the horizon.

Are you looking forward to Samsung’s new watches, or will you skip the upgrade this year?
