Samsung has a problem! The Galaxy S26 series is reportedly arriving with a major delay

  • According to Korean sources, Samsung has postponed the start of mass production of the Galaxy S26 series
  • The reason is the cancellation of the Galaxy S26 Edge model and the need to quickly develop a replacement S26+ variant
  • The series launch is thus likely to shift from January to March 2026

Samsung was supposed to launch its flagship Galaxy S26 series traditionally in January 2026, but it seems plans have significantly changed. According to information from Korea, the giant has postponed the start of mass production of all three models, which confirms recent speculations about the premiere being pushed back to March.

Edge canceled, Plus developed in a hurry

The original plan seemed simple: all three Galaxy S26 models were supposed to enter production as early as December 2025. However, the reality is different. According to sources, Samsung has canceled the development of the Galaxy S26 Edge model.

This is what the Galaxy S26 Edge was supposed to look like:

The problem? The company now has to revert to the proven concept and quickly finalize the Galaxy S26+, which will take another month or two. While the development of the Galaxy S26 and S26 Ultra is reportedly complete, the Plus variant is being developed under pressure and with a time delay.

Ultra first, Plus last

The production of individual models will thus start gradually. The Galaxy S26 Ultra will enter mass production as early as December 2025, the basic Galaxy S26 will follow in January 2026, and the S26+ model will arrive last – probably sometime in February.

S25 Ultra vs S26 Ultra:

This hierarchy makes sense: the Ultra is the flagship with the highest margin, which Samsung needs to get to market as soon as possible. The basic S26 is the best-selling model. And the Plus? It’s now catching up on the delay caused by the cancellation of the Edge.

It’s not the first time Samsung has improvised

While a two-month delay in the premiere is not the end of the world, it indicates a certain chaos in planning. Samsung had similar problems with the Galaxy S25 series, where a delay was also speculated due to issues with chipsets and certifications.

Moreover, a March launch means that Samsung loses momentum at the beginning of the year, when competitors – especially Apple with iPhones and Xiaomi with fresh flagships – are already attacking the market in full force. On the other hand, if the company gets more time to fine-tune things, it might ultimately be beneficial.

In any case, it holds true: Samsung’s plans are in motion, and we will have to wait some time for official confirmation. But if Korean sources are not mistaken, we will not see the Galaxy S26 at MWC 2026 in Barcelona – the premiere will be after the trade show, sometime at the turn of February and March.

What do you think about the potential postponement of the Galaxy S26 series to March?
