Secret Samsung revealed in benchmark! It will get a top-tier and as-yet-unannounced chipset Home News Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge appeared in a benchmark with an unannounced Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset Performance increased by 8% in single-core and 22% in multi-core compared to the current generation Qualcomm will unveil the new chipset as early as September 23, changing the established flagship launch calendar Sdílejte: Jakub Kárník Published: 14. 8. 2025 04:30 Advertisement An interesting find appeared in the Geekbench database – Samsung SM-S947U, which should be the American version of the upcoming Galaxy S26 Edge. The phone runs on the as-yet-unannounced Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, which Qualcomm will officially reveal in a month. Samsung is thus evidently receiving new chips well in advance for testing and optimization. The new processor contains eight cores – two powerful ones running at a frequency of 4.74 GHz and six more efficient ones clocked at 3.63 GHz. This is a decent increase compared to the current Snapdragon 8 Elite, which has frequencies of 4.32 GHz and 3.53 GHz. However, Samsung might have received a special version with higher clock speeds, similar to previous generations. Benchmark Numbers Versus Reality The Galaxy S26 Edge achieved a score of 3,393 points in the single-core and 11,515 points in the multi-core test. For comparison – the current S25 Edge has results of 3,131 and 9,391 points. The math is simple: an increase of 8 percent for a single core and 22 percent for all cores. In practice, this means that regular applications will run only slightly faster – you’ll only notice the 8% single-core improvement in specific tasks. The larger leap in multi-core performance will be appreciated mainly by demanding users when rendering video, playing games, or using AI functions. However, it’s important to emphasize that this is a pre-production unit – the final version will likely be even faster. Qualcomm Changes the Rules of the Game Qualcomm has surprisingly moved up the launch date of its flagship novelty this year. The Snapdragon Summit will take place as early as September 23 to 25, which is a month earlier than last year. This means that Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi, OnePlus, or Oppo will likely manage to introduce their flagships with the new chipset even before the end of September. For Samsung, this is a somewhat inconvenient situation. The Koreans traditionally introduce new Galaxy S models in January or February, so their phones will hit the market several months behind the competition. This will also be the case for the Edge model, which will replace the Plus model in the portfolio next year. Edge as a Response to Chinese Competition? With the Edge model, Samsung is responding to the trend of ultra-thin flagship phones. Chinese competitors, led by Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo, are demonstrating that it’s possible to create a powerful phone in a body as thin as around 6 millimeters. The question remains what compromises Samsung will make – thin phones usually suffer from smaller batteries and worse cooling, which the current S25 Edge actually confirms.
