Sharing between Samsung and Apple has never been easier. The Galaxy S26 series now supports AirDrop

Following confirmation from mobile division COO Choi Won-jun last week, Samsung has now issued an official press release. The Galaxy S26 series gains support for file sharing with iPhones, iPads, and Macs via Quick Share, which now communicates with the AirDrop protocol.

The update arrives today

The update begins rolling out today, with South Korea being the first. Later this week, according to 9to5Google, which received details directly from Samsung, the United States should follow, with Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan also receiving it later.

In the press release, Samsung promises expansion to other Galaxy models, but has not yet published a specific timeline.

The feature must be activated manually

Unlike the implementation on Pixels, AirDrop is not automatically enabled on Samsung devices. Users must activate it in Quick Share settings under “Share with Apple devices”. For a successful transfer, the recipient on the iPhone also needs to have the “Everyone” mode enabled in AirDrop settings.

Samsung thus joins Google, which launched the feature on the Pixel 10 last November and expanded it to the Pixel 9 series in February. Oppo is also expected to add support by the end of March.
