The battle for the largest smartphone battery is taking another turn. This year, phones with capacities over 10,000 mAh have started to enter the market, and these are not rugged “bricks with a display,” but standard models from brands like Honor and Vivo, and eventually Redmi could surpass its rivals. According to fresh speculation, a phone with a 12,000 mAh battery is being developed in Xiaomi’s laboratories.

What we know about the phone so far

The information came from Digital Chat Station, one of the most reliable Chinese leakers. According to him, the phone is expected to use a single-cell battery with a high silicon content, which allows more energy to be packed into the same space. Thus, the device’s thickness might not be extreme.

The leaker also confirmed that the phone will receive a powerful chipset. Given that Turbo series models traditionally rely on MediaTek Dimensity processors, one of the highest-end pieces of this platform can be expected. Redmi is reportedly also testing even higher capacities in its laboratories, but based on a completely different material system.

Why Redmi Turbo 6 Max specifically?

The leaker did not reveal the specific model name that is supposed to get the 12,000mAh battery. However, the community unanimously speculates it will be the Redmi Turbo 6 Max, and for good reason. The current Redmi Turbo 5 Max, introduced this January, received a 9,000mAh battery and was the highest capacity Redmi or Xiaomi had ever put into a phone. A jump to 12,000 mAh would fit the brand’s strategy of pushing endurance boundaries within the Turbo series.

According to leaks, the upcoming Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is expected to get “only” a 10,000mAh battery (then 9,210 mAh in Europe), and the anticipated flagship models K100 and K100 Pro Max should be similar. The premiere of the Turbo 6 Max is expected in the first quarter of 2027, roughly a year from now. The phone might reach our market under the POCO brand, but it is likely that its battery capacity would be significantly lower.
