A whole week without a charger? New Honor phone set to impress with a gigantic battery

Do you charge your phone every day, or worse, by the afternoon? If battery life limits you and it’s your primary focus when choosing a new phone, you should pay attention. The Chinese brand Honor is reportedly preparing a solution that could easily last a whole week without a charger. According to Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, it is testing a phone with a battery capacity of up to 15,000 mAh.

Digital Chat Station wrote about the new development on the Chinese social network Weibo. According to him, the battery cell has a capacity between 14,000 and 15,000 mAh and has reportedly already entered the trial production phase. Honor reportedly anticipates that it will last up to a week on a single charge.

However, it shouldn’t be a thick brick with a display. The leaker claims it will be a high-energy-density cell, so the phone’s weight or thickness should not be pushed to extremes. Specific figures are still missing, though.

Higher capacity is more of an evolution for Honor

If the leak is confirmed, it won’t be a leap into the unknown for Honor. The company has been working with giant batteries for a long time. Already, the Honor Win gaming phones offered 10,000 mAh, and their recently introduced successors, Win RT2 and Win Turbo2, even have 12,070 mAh. The new cell would therefore mean an increase of roughly another two to three thousand.

Which model it will be is not yet clear

Digital Chat Station did not reveal which model the battery will be destined for. GSMArena speculates a successor to the Power or Win RT series, i.e., Honor Power3 or Win RT3, and we would likely see its introduction next year.

It’s also important to keep in mind that this is still unconfirmed information. Specifically, while leaker Digital Chat Station has a very good track record regarding the accuracy of leaks, it is still possible that a phone with a 15,000mAh battery might be seen later or not at all.
