If you’ve been looking for an Xbox Series X in Czech stores lately, you might have encountered an interesting problem – the classic black version with a disc drive has almost disappeared from stock. Why is the classic Xbox Series X disappearing from the Czech market?

The situation with the standard version of the Xbox Series X console in the Czech Republic and other Central European countries is, at the very least, peculiar. Large e-shops like Alza, Datart, or CZC either don’t have the console in stock or have even completely removed it from their offerings.

Interestingly, in Western markets, such as Germany or Austria, the standard Xbox Series X remains commonly available. Everything suggests that Microsoft has changed its strategy for Central Europe and is prioritizing markets where players spend more money on games and services.

Digital White Edition as an alternative

The Xbox Series X Digital Edition in Robot White offers an interesting alternative for players who crave the full power of Microsoft’s most powerful console. It offers the same performance as the standard version – 4K resolution at up to 120 FPS, HDR support, Ray-Tracing, and a fast 1TB SSD. The only differences are the absence of a disc drive for physical discs and, of course, the new, elegant white design.

A good buy, or better to wait?

On the other hand, the current market situation doesn’t offer better alternatives (unless you want to switch to PlayStation), and it’s unlikely to change in the foreseeable future.

It’s also worth considering that according to estimates, the new generation of consoles (Xbox and PlayStation 6) should hit the market within the next 2-3 years. For players who are only now looking to jump into the current generation, investing in a full-price console might not be the best option.

Alternatives for Czech players

If the digital edition doesn’t suit you or you don’t want to pay that much for it, you essentially have only two options: opt for the cheaper Xbox Series S, which is still commonly available, or look into buying the console in neighboring countries like Austria or Germany, where the standard Xbox Series X is still on offer. A third option could be buying on Bazoš, where quite a few are available and sellers ask for under 10,000.

Verdict: buy or not?

If you’ve already switched to digital game distribution and like the white design, the Xbox Series X Digital Edition offer for 14,716 CZK might be interesting. You’ll get the full performance of a new-generation console and an elegant design that might better suit your interior than the classic black version.

On the other hand, if you care about the ability to play physical discs or want to wait for a better offer, it might be better to hold off. With the current console generation nearing the end of its lifecycle, more interesting discounts could emerge, although this is not certain given the current situation in the Czech market.

And for those wondering whether to invest in a console at all when a new generation arrives in 2-3 years – it depends on how much you want to play current titles. The Xbox Series X/S still has several years of support and a number of exclusive titles ahead of it, so if you don’t want to wait, even this “delayed” purchase can be a reasonable choice.
