The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is reportedly facing problems. It is said to arrive with a significant delay

Greek technology server TechManiacs has come out with a surprising report – Samsung is reportedly delaying the unveiling of the Galaxy S26 series by two months. Instead of the traditional January Unpacked event, the new devices should be introduced in March next year. The reason is said to be problems with the development and design of the base model.

Galaxy S26 Ultra development reportedly complete, base model is behind schedule

According to sources from TechManiacs, the development of the Galaxy S26 Ultra model is practically complete, while the base Galaxy S26 is significantly behind. Unfortunately, the server does not provide specific details about the nature of the problems Samsung is addressing. However, a two-month delay could indicate more significant technical complications than just cosmetic adjustments.

What do we know about the Galaxy S26 Ultra?

TechManiacs also provides more specific information about the features. The Galaxy S26 Ultra will finally get a 10-bit display with a palette of 1 billion colors – Samsung will thus catch up with the competition, which has been offering this technology for several years. Some high-end competitor models even use 12-bit panels.

In the camera department, the server does not expect any major changes compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Improvements are expected mainly at the software level and thanks to a new image processor.

Under the hood, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy will be ticking, complemented by 12 GB of RAM. Battery capacity will remain at 5,000 mAh, but Samsung is reportedly finally increasing charging speed to 60 W. This will allow charging from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes.

Base models will get Exynos

While the Ultra version will rely on Snapdragon, the regular Galaxy S26 models (likely Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26+) should get the Exynos 2600 chipset.

TechManiacs suggests that due to incomplete development, we don’t have much information yet about the base models. However, if the Ultra version doesn’t bring groundbreaking innovations, a rather conservative upgrade can be expected for the smaller models as well.

Return to three models after the unsuccessful Edge debut

Speculation about the delay of the Galaxy S26 series comes at a time when Samsung according to recent information is canceling the Galaxy S26 Edge model. The ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge sold significantly worse than originally expected.

Samsung will thus likely return to the proven format of three models next year – we expect Galaxy S26 (possibly with the Pro moniker), Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Customers simply prefer longer battery life over an ultra-thin design.
