Samsung is gradually building an ecosystem in which various AI assistants coexist. After Bixby and Gemini (formerly Google Assistant), a third player is now arriving – the AI search engine Perplexity, which will become part of the upcoming flagship Galaxy S26 series. The South Korean giant is responding to the finding that almost 8 out of 10 users today use more than two different AI tools depending on the type of task, as it states in its press release.

System-level Integration

Perplexity on Galaxy S26 will not function as an ordinary application. Samsung is integrating it directly into the operating system, which will allow it to work across selected applications – specifically Samsung Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminders, and Calendar. Some third-party applications will also receive support.

In practice, this means that a user can search for information, create a note, and schedule an event with a single command, without having to switch between applications. Perplexity is activated either by the voice command “Hey Plex” or by holding the phone’s side button.

Three Assistants in One Phone

The Galaxy S26 will thus be the first smartphone where users can choose between three voice assistants – Gemini (“Hey Google”), Bixby (“Hey Bixby”), and now Perplexity (“Hey Plex”). Samsung calls this approach an “open multi-agent ecosystem” and emphasizes that it wants to offer users a choice according to their preferences.

Whether Perplexity integration will also come to older Galaxy models, Samsung has not yet specified. Further details are expected to be announced next week during the official unveiling of the Galaxy S26 series.

Would you use multiple AI assistants on your phone simultaneously?
