Samsung is preparing the most radical change to the Galaxy S lineup in five years, as we recently informed you. According to fresh CAD render leaks, the Plus model will disappear, the base version will get the Pro moniker, and an ultra-thin Edge will join the party. And that’s not all – the Koreans will finally copy MagSafe.

Why is Samsung killing the Galaxy S Plus?

It’s simple – there was minor interest in it. Samsung calculated that it was cannibalizing sales of both extreme models without bringing anything unique.

Instead, the Galaxy S26 Edge will arrive – a phone with the same display diagonal of around 6.7″, but a significantly thinner body. That makes sense. A thin premium phone is simply in a different league than just a larger base model.

And why the renaming to S26 Pro? Marketing. The word “Pro” sells. Look at the iPhone – the base model sells better than the Plus because people don’t want to buy “just a basic” phone. S26 Pro sounds premium, even though it’s still the cheapest model in the lineup.

Magnets finally in Samsung phones too

But the biggest novelty is hidden inside – built-in magnets for wireless charging. For years, Samsung ignored Apple MagSafe, claiming their customers didn’t need it. But then Google added magnets to the Pixel 10, and Samsung realized it would be left alone.

What does this mean in practice? Finally, reliable attachment of the wireless charger. No more searching for the sweet spot, no more phone sliding off the pad at night. Plus, an entire ecosystem of accessories – magnetic wallets, car mounts, power banks. What iPhone users have had for 5 years.

The question is whether Samsung will use the Qi2 standard (compatible with MagSafe) or come up with its own solution.

Design evolution, not revolution

S26 Pro renders show an oval island for three cameras instead of the current separate lenses. It’s essentially a return to the Galaxy S22, just more modern. Dimensions of 149.3 × 71.4 × 6.96 mm mean the phone will be thinner than the S25, but the camera bump will raise it to 10.23 mm.

The display will grow from 6.2″ to 6.3 inches – a minimal change, but every millimeter counts. More interesting is 16 GB RAM as standard. This is not just about performance, but mainly about AI features. Galaxy AI consumes memory like crazy, and Samsung wants most functions to run locally, not in the cloud.

The battery will increase to 4,300 mAh (+300 mAh compared to S25). This is not a breakthrough, but in combination with a more efficient processor, the battery life could finally surpass the magical two-day mark of light use.

Exynos 2600 or Snapdragon?

This is where it gets interesting. Samsung is reportedly preparing the Exynos 2600 manufactured with a 2nm process by TSMC (not its own factories!). If true, we could see a competitive Exynos for the first time in years. But the reality will probably be that Europe gets Exynos, and the USA gets Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2.

A bigger change is with the camera – the wide-angle lens will get 50 Mpx, but it will be a larger sensor. We don’t have more information yet.

What does this mean for the future?

With this step, Samsung admits that the traditional three-version model is dead. Customers want either the cheapest or the best. Nothing in between. The S26 Edge is an attempt to attract a different type of customer – one who cares about design and feel in hand, not specifications.

We traditionally expect the unveiling in January 2026, with sales starting in February. One thing is certain – Samsung has finally stopped ignoring trends and started reacting to them.

How excited are you for the Galaxy S26 series?
