TP-Link expands its portfolio of smart security cameras with the new Tapo C246D model, which stands out primarily for its dual lens, allowing it to monitor two different areas simultaneously. The new product is suitable for indoor and outdoor use thanks to its IP65 durability and is sold on the Czech market for 1,799 CZK.

Dual Lens for Maximum Overview

The main advantage of the Tapo C246D camera is its dual lens system, which provides a much better overview of what’s happening in your home or garden. The wide-angle lens with a 125° field of view ensures a perfect overview of the entire area, while the 6mm telephoto lens allows capturing details at a greater distance with reportedly up to 3× better clarity compared to standard lenses. Thanks to the digital zoom function, the image can be magnified up to 10.8×, which is especially useful for identifying distant objects or people.

Both lenses operate at 2K (3 Mpx) resolution and offer synchronized smart tracking – when the fixed wide-angle lens detects motion, the rotating telephoto lens automatically turns in that direction and begins to track the moving object. Thanks to the One-Tap Smart Focus function, you just need to tap on an area in the wide-angle view, and the rotating lens will instantly focus on it.

Artificial Intelligence Without Monthly Fees

TP-Link Tapo C246D boasts advanced AI features, which are available completely free of charge without the need for a subscription. The camera can recognize and alert you to the movement of people, pets, vehicles, and even baby crying. You can set which types of detections you are interested in and for which you want to receive notifications on your phone.

For maximum security, there is also two-way audio with a built-in microphone and speaker, a light and sound alarm, and the ability to define up to 8 preset views, between which the camera can automatically switch according to your set schedule.

Improved Night Vision and Durable Construction

Tapo C246D offers three night vision modes – color with integrated spotlights, discreet black and white infrared, or smart mode, which automatically switches between these options based on light detection using AI. This ensures optimal image quality under any lighting conditions.

The camera is designed for outdoor and indoor use and features IP65 certification, ensuring resistance to rain, snow, dust, and extreme temperatures. It can operate in a temperature range from -20 °C to +50 °C, so you can safely place it in your garden, on your terrace, or balcony.

Flexible Storage and Smart Home

For recording storage, Tapo C246D offers two options – local storage on a microSD card with a capacity of up to 512 GB (not included) or cloud storage as part of a Tapo Care subscription. The camera is fully compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings, so you can watch live feeds, for example, on an Echo Show smart display or via Chromecast.

Installation is very simple thanks to its flexible design. The camera can be placed on a table, mounted on a wall or ceiling, and can even be used upside down. The package includes a mount, mounting hardware, and a power cable.
