Twice as strong ANC and 35 hours of battery life: this is what the new Sonos Ace Ultra are said to feature

In two years on the market, Sonos Ace headphones have become a textbook example of how an expensive product gradually slides down a price toboggan. They launched at 12,490 CZK, and today you commonly find them well under seven thousand here. The company is now preparing a successor, and according to an extensive leak, it is expected to be even cheaper than the original model. This is information that can be read in two ways.

Lower Price Is Not Generosity

The information comes from a leaker known as Billbil-kun, who has a consistently good track record with pre-sale electronics prices. According to him, the Ace Ultra will cost 449 dollars (approximately 9,400 CZK), 449 euros (about 10,900 CZK), and 399 pounds. The original Ace launched in Europe at 499 euros, so the successor would start fifty euros lower.

A cheaper successor in the premium segment is usually a sign that the manufacturer has re-evaluated negative figures. The Ace did not sell as expected at the time, and their price at Czech retailers dropped by more than 40%. Sonos clearly does not want the scenario to repeat itself.

Twice Better ANC and Five Hours Longer Battery Life

The main attraction is expected to be up to twice as effective noise cancellation compared to the first model. An interesting formulation: it implies an indirect admission that the ANC on the original Ace was not where it should have been for that price point. Battery life is expected to increase from 30 to 35 hours with ANC enabled.

For fast charging, there’s talk of three hours of listening for three minutes of charge. Just for the record: Sonos already stated this exact value for the 2024 model.

Agave, Touch Controls, and Better Soundbar Integration

In addition to black and white, a new color called Agave is expected, described as a blue-green shade. Physical buttons are to be replaced by touch controls — yet, with the first model, the tactile slider was among the features praised by reviewers. Sonos further promises tighter integration with its Dolby Atmos-enabled soundbars, which is still the only discipline where the brand offers something that neither Sony nor Apple has.

None of this has been confirmed by Sonos yet. The company has announced its own event for early September, so there are a few weeks left until confirmation or refutation.
