Looking for an affordable monitor with higher resolution than FullHD, but don’t want to spend on expensive gaming models? Philips offers an interesting alternative. The 27E2N2500/00 model combines QuadHD resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate, and it’s currently priced under 3 thousand Czech crowns at Alza. On the Czech market, it is among the cheapest monitors with this combination of parameters.

IPS Panel with QuadHD Resolution

The monitor features a 27″ IPS panel with a resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels. If you’re upgrading from FullHD, you’ll definitely notice the difference. The pixel density is 109 PPI, so the image will appear sufficiently sharp even at a typical working distance. IPS technology ensures wide viewing angles of 178° in both directions, which you’ll appreciate especially when working with graphics or watching movies with multiple people.

The maximum brightness reaches 300 cd/m², which is sufficient for working in normally lit rooms. The native contrast ratio of 1500:1 is above average for an IPS panel. The monitor supports HDR10, although at this brightness, it will be more about basic compatibility than a full HDR experience. The color depth is 8 bits with support for 16.7 million colors and sRGB coverage.

Parameters for Gamers

Although not a typical gaming monitor, the Philips 27E2N2500/00 offers several features that gamers will appreciate. A 120 Hz refresh rate provides a smoother image than standard 60 Hz, which is noticeable not only in games but also during regular scrolling. A response time of 1 ms MPRT (Motion Picture Response Time) reduces blur of fast-moving objects.

The design supports the VESA standard 100×100 mm for mounting on an arm or wall. The stand allows tilting in the range of -5° to +20°, but height adjustment is missing.
