Speculation about the future of the OnePlus brand in markets outside China has been circulating for several weeks, but this time it comes with the most concrete details yet. While in January, Robin Liu, head of the Indian branch, assured the public that the company was operating normally, he is now stepping down from his position. Independently, reports are emerging about a possible complete withdrawal of the brand from Europe and North America.

Speculation has resurfaced

A new wave of speculation was sparked by a post from insider Yogesh Brar published earlier this week on platform X, in which he claimed that OnePlus would cease operations in global markets and, outside of China, would focus only on the lower and mid-range price segments in India. The post was deleted shortly thereafter, but this did not prevent further dissemination of the information.

More detailed information subsequently came from 9to5Google, which cites its own source familiar with the company’s internal affairs. According to this source, OnePlus will cease operations in some regions, including a large part of Europe, potentially as early as April 2026. However, the exact timeline was not disclosed. The server also states that some employees have already been informed of the decision in advance and have received severance pay.

Head of Indian branch steps down and returns to China

What’s particularly noteworthy about the whole situation is that Robin Liu, the CEO of OnePlus India, is now stepping down and returning to China. It was he who, as recently as January, denied speculation about the brand’s problems, stating that the company “is operating normally and will continue to do so.” The information was then reported by Android Headlines.

OnePlus stated that Liu’s departure was a personal decision: “We thank Robin for his contributions to OnePlus India. He is leaving to pursue personal interests, and we wish him all the best for the future. OnePlus India’s operations continue with a local strategy and assured business continuity.” The company has not yet announced who will replace Liu as head of the Indian branch.

What does this mean for current owners?

OnePlus has previously assured that even in the event of structural changes, it would guarantee after-sales support, software updates, and commitments to users. However, it is not yet clear how a potential market withdrawal would affect community forums or the availability of spare parts.

OnePlus phones are still on sale in Europe, the UK, and North America; for example, in our country, you can purchase the OnePlus 15 series since the end of last year. The company has not yet commented on the latest market exit speculation beyond the statement regarding Robin Liu’s departure.

How would you react to a potential withdrawal of OnePlus from the Czech market?
