Xiaomi 16 Pro Max will be packed with the latest technologies! It will impress with its camera, brutal display, and performance

While information about the upcoming Xiaomi 16 Ultra with alleged DSLR-style continuous zoom has been circulating online in recent days, today detailed specifications for another flagship – Xiaomi 16 Pro Max – have emerged. According to information from the well-known Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, this model will offer several significant improvements that could shake up the premium smartphone market.

New Cameras

The main highlight of the upcoming phone is expected to be a new 50Mpx SmartSens 590 photosensor. This 1/1.28″ sensor will be slightly larger than the 1/1.31″ Omnivision OVX9000 used in its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15 Pro. According to available information, the sensor should support LOFIC 2.0 technology for better dynamic range and, thanks to its 22nm manufacturing process, should also offer higher energy efficiency.

The manufacturer’s SmartSens website already lists the SC595XS model in the SmartClarity XL Pro series, which matches these parameters. The sensor supports HDR and offers a pixel size of 1.22 μm, but further details are not yet available.

The camera setup is expected to be complemented by a 50Mpx periscope telephoto lens utilizing a Samsung ISOCELL GN8 sensor with a size of 1/1.95″. Compared to the 1/2.76″ ISOCELL JN5 from the previous generation, this is a significant upgrade. The sensor offers a pixel size of 0.8 μm and supports a range of HDR features including Smart ISO Pro and Dual Slope Gain. It is expected to provide 5× optical zoom.

Record-breaking Battery and Fast Charging

Xiaomi apparently wants to solve the perennial battery life problem radically. According to leaks, the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max is expected to offer a massive 7,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging support. For comparison, the current Xiaomi 15 Pro has a 6,100 mAh battery, and even the anticipated Xiaomi 16 Ultra should have “only” a 7,000mAh battery.

However, the leaker mentions that 7,500 mAh is the maximum possible capacity, so the final model might end up with a slightly smaller battery. Even so, it would still be one of the largest batteries in the flagship smartphone segment.

Top-tier Display Combining Technologies

The Xiaomi 16 Pro Max is expected to feature a 6.8″ flat 2K OLED display that will combine LTPO and LIPO technologies. LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) enables a variable refresh rate for smoother performance and better energy efficiency. LIPO (Low-Injection Pressure Over-Molding), on the other hand, is a manufacturing process that helps to thin the bezels around the display.

The display is said to offer extremely thin bezels and, thanks to LIPO technology, exceptionally low power consumption, which, combined with the large battery, could ensure excellent endurance.

Second Display and Other Specifications

An interesting addition to this generation could be a secondary display on the back of the phone. According to speculation, the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max might integrate this display directly into the camera island. Xiaomi has previously experimented with rear displays, for example, on the Mi 11 Ultra model, but this version could offer a more sophisticated take on this concept.

Under the hood, the phone is expected to run on the second generation Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, combined with Android 16 and the Xiaomi HyperOS 3.0 overlay. Further details on RAM or storage have not yet been released.

When Can We Expect the Launch?

According to available information, the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max should be the true successor to the Xiaomi 15 Pro model, while the regular Xiaomi 16 Pro is reportedly smaller.

The new Xiaomi flagship with Leica cameras is expected to be unveiled in China at the end of September along with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor. It could reach global markets, including Europe, with the traditional several-month delay, likely in the first quarter of 2026 at MWC 2026.
