We have informed you about the Xiaomi 17 Max several times in recent months. Leak after leak revealed what this model should impress with – a giant battery, a top-tier trio of cameras, and flagship performance. Now, the manufacturer has officially confirmed the phone for the first time and provided a few juicy details. The premiere will take place in China as early as this month, and local interested parties can place pre-orders now.

Design like Xiaomi 15 and without a rear display

On the social network Weibo, Xiaomi showed the Xiaomi 17 Max in a light blue variant, which also revealed the most important design aspects. The phone returns to the classic look of the Xiaomi 15 model – on the back, we find a square-shaped camera module with gently rounded corners, which corresponds to that of last year’s flagship. There are no eccentric elements here.

This simultaneously means that the 17 Max will not get a secondary display located next to the camera, as boasted by the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max models. For some, a disappointment, for others, a relief – not everyone uses that extra display, and its absence also means a lower final price for the phone. In addition to the light blue color, according to leaked renders from leaker Digital Chat Station, variants in black, white, and a carbon fiber design are also planned.

Large display, even larger battery

As the Max designation suggests, the phone will feature a 6.9″ flat display. According to leaks, it will be an LTPO panel with 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and narrow bezels. An ultrasonic fingerprint reader is expected to be hidden beneath it. Stereo sound will be provided by a pair of symmetrically placed speakers.

Under the hood, the as-yet-unannounced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is expected to operate, accompanied by LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage. However, the absolutely key parameter is the 8,000mAh battery, which should be recorded as the largest capacity Xiaomi has ever fitted into its smartphone. For context – the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max offers 7,500 mAh, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra even “only” 6,000 mAh. Charging will be handled by 100W wired and 50W wireless modes.

Cameras with Leica’s signature

Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the phone will continue its collaboration with the legendary Leica brand. Specific specifications have not yet been revealed, but according to earlier leaks, we can look forward to a trio of lenses: a 200Mpx primary sensor from the Samsung ISOCELL HP series, a 50Mpx ultrawide-angle lens, and a 50Mpx periscopic telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.

How much will the phone cost?

Xiaomi has not yet revealed the specific price, but it has also not officially confirmed it. The well-known informant Digital Chat Station estimates that the cheapest version will start at 5,199 yuan, which translates to approximately 15,900 CZK. However, as with most similar phones, it is likely that the phone will not be released outside of China – European interested parties will therefore have to stick with the standard Xiaomi 17 or wait for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.

Xiaomi 17 Max targets a rather specific audience – users who want a large display and a giant battery but don’t insist on bonuses like a secondary rear screen. It will directly compete with the Pro Max model, against which it wins in battery capacity and likely also in price.

Would the Xiaomi 17 Max appeal to you if it came to the Czech Republic?
