Xiaomi brought another washer-dryer to the Czech Republic. It arrived in black for the first time

For many years, a white washing machine was a completely common part of the bathroom, but Xiaomi is now bringing an increasingly popular exception to the Czech Republic. The Xiaomi Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer Pro 10kg, which we exclusively revealed at the beginning of August, is the brand’s first washing machine in Europe in a black design. It washes up to 10 kg of laundry, dries it immediately, and you can buy it at Alza for 13 990 Kč.

The first Xiaomi washing machine for Europe that isn’t white

Xiaomi washing machines sold in Europe so far had a white body. The Pro 10kg is the first to arrive in a dark finish. The manufacturer itself describes the color as silver-grey, but in photos, it looks more like dark graphite, complemented by a black control panel and black door. Instead of a rotary dial, it has a touch screen.

The new model sells for 13 990 Kč at Alza, and the seller can deliver and install it at your home. Compared to the white Pro 9, which we tested in the editorial office in the summer and which was then sold for 12 990 Kč, you will pay an extra thousand for an additional kilo of capacity and the dark color. Dimensions of 85 × 60 × 61 cm correspond to a standard washing machine.

It measures the detergent itself

Double automatic dosing adds convenience. The washing machine has dispensers for both detergent and fabric softener, and it measures how much to use based on the load weight. According to Xiaomi, one refill should last about a month. However, the manufacturer assumes two to three washes per week of 4 to 5 kg each, so in a larger family, you will refill more often. You can adjust the dosing ratio in the app.

The detergent is first mixed with water in a special chamber and then directed under pressure straight onto the laundry in the drum. Thanks to this, the Smart Wash program can handle a lighter load of 1 to 2 kg in approximately 32 minutes, and according to the manufacturer, it consumes 40% less electricity and a third less water compared to the brand’s older ten-and-a-half-kilogram model. For a quick wash, there’s a twelve-minute Quick Wash program.

How does it handle drying?

It can dry up to 7 kg of laundry without transferring it to another machine. Sensors continuously monitor temperature and humidity, so the cycle ends as soon as the laundry is dry, and a gentler mode dries at 55 to 65 °C. According to Xiaomi, washing and drying 3 kg of regular clothes should take about three hours.

Dust and fibers from the drying air are captured by a water curtain, and the washing machine itself flushes the fan blades and the stainless steel drying channel with water, so you don’t have to disassemble anything. The door seal is also cleaned automatically, and the detergent drawer can be cleaned on demand.

Drying consumes more electricity. Washing alone falls into energy class A with a consumption of 36 kWh per 100 Eco 40–60 cycles, but the combined wash and dry cycle drops to class D and 342 kWh. More energy-efficient drying with a heat pump is currently only offered by Xiaomi for a new product for the Chinese market.

Removes bacteria and can be controlled by mobile phone

According to Xiaomi, the Hygiene steam program is designed to remove 99.99% of bacteria, a claim the company bases on a laboratory test, but we cannot independently verify this in home conditions. Steam can also be used to refresh one to three items of clothing without washing, and a fragrance essence can be added to the steam.

In the Xiaomi Home app, you can schedule or start washing remotely, the assistant will recommend a program based on your habits, and in My Time mode, you can create your own cycle. There are over 30 programs (14 directly on the panel, the rest in the app), and new ones are expected to be added with updates. It can also be controlled by voice via Google Assistant or Alexa.

The drum spins up to 1,400 revolutions per minute thanks to a direct-drive motor, for which Xiaomi promises a twelve-year warranty on its global website. However, this only applies to motor parts, and conditions vary by region. It also features drum lighting, a delayed start of up to 24 hours, and the option to add a forgotten sock during washing.
