Xiaomi has unveiled another magnetic power bank. This time, it focuses on higher capacity

  • In China, Xiaomi introduced the UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank with a capacity of 10,000 mAh, double that of last year's model
  • The power bank measures 13.2 mm in thickness, weighs 195 grams, and supports wired charging up to 45 W
  • In Chinese pre-sale, it costs 369 yuan (approximately 1,100 CZK converted) and, similar to the smaller version, could also head to Europe

Barely had the ultra-thin Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W reached the Czech market this spring, when the Chinese manufacturer unveiled its larger sibling in its homeland. It addresses the main weakness of the smaller model, namely its capacity barely sufficient for one phone charge, in the most straightforward way imaginable: by directly doubling it. Of course, higher endurance comes at the cost of increased thickness and weight.

Larger Capacity, but Also Greater Thickness

While last year’s model boasted a record-breaking thickness of just 6 mm and a weight of 98 grams, the new version is logically significantly more robust. It measures 102 × 70.5 × 13.2 mm and weighs 195 grams. Even so, Xiaomi claims it is thinner than most conventional power banks with the same capacity. Inside are two 5,000 mAh cells based on GSR silicon-carbon technology. Thanks to a 16% silicon content, this technology achieves an energy density of up to 840 Wh/l, which allowed the manufacturer to fit double the capacity into a body that remains relatively compact.

Charging up to 45 W, Two Devices Simultaneously

The main improvement over the smaller model occurred in charging. The power bank supports magnetic wireless charging with up to 20 W output (last year it was 15 W) and wired charging via USB-C up to 45 W (compared to the previous 22.5 W). In addition to the maximum, it also offers 40 W, 30 W, and 27 W levels. According to the manufacturer, wireless charging is compatible with both Xiaomi phones and iPhones. Like its predecessor, you can charge two devices simultaneously, one attached magnetically and the other connected via cable. The power bank itself recharges at a speed of up to 30 W and supports common QC and PD protocols.

Emphasis on Safety and Condition Monitoring

Xiaomi also highlighted the protective features of the new product. The battery is safeguarded by protection against overcharging, excessive discharge, short circuits, and overheating. Temperature management is handled by an NTC chip combined with graphene material for heat dissipation and thermally conductive silicone. The manufacturer states that the cells have undergone durability tests, including needle puncture, high-temperature storage, and compression under pressure, without igniting or exploding. An interesting feature is the ability to connect the power bank to a computer to check battery health, device status, and any anomaly records, which is certainly not standard for similar products.

Price and Availability

In China, the power bank is available for pre-sale for 369 yuan, which is roughly 1,100 CZK converted (it also appeared on the Youpin crowdfunding platform with a slightly lower price tag of 349 yuan). Similar to the smaller 5,000mAh version, which arrived here for 1,299 CZK, this one could also eventually appear on European and, consequently, Czech shelves. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed.

Would you prefer double the capacity or a record-thin body?
