Xiaomi Redmi K80 Ultra a K Pad

Xiaomi is apparently preparing another addition to its global tablet family. According to leaked information, the worldwide launch of the compact premium tablet Redmi K Pad, which has so far only been available in China, is being prepared. On the global market, it should be introduced under the designation Xiaomi Pad Mini and offer top-notch performance in a compact body.

Renaming for the Global Market

According to a Chinese informant known by the nickname “Experience More”, Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Redmi K Pad tablet on the global market. However, the device will abandon the Redmi brand, under which it is sold in China, and switch to the main Xiaomi brand. Specifically, it should be launched as “Xiaomi Pad Mini”, which clearly indicates its positioning as a direct competitor to the iPad Mini 7.

Earlier speculations suggested that the tablet might be sold globally as “Poco F Pad”, but this information appears to be inaccurate. Instead, the Xiaomi Pad Mini should take its place at the top of the offering.

Top-tier Features in a Compact Body

The main draw of the new tablet will undoubtedly be the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset, which will ensure that the Xiaomi Pad Mini is the brand’s most powerful globally available tablet. It is precisely the combination of top-notch performance and compact dimensions that is intended to be the main weapon against the competition, especially against the aforementioned iPad Mini.

As a reminder, the Chinese Redmi K Pad offers, in addition to the mentioned chipset, an 8.8″ display with a resolution of 2,576 × 1,600 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. It also supports HDR10, Dolby Vision, and a brightness value of up to 850 nits. In addition, it features a 10,000 mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. We expect the global version to retain these specifications.

When can we expect it?

The exact launch date of the Xiaomi Pad Mini on the global market is not yet known. However, according to current information, the tablet could debut alongside the Xiaomi 15T series smartphones, which are expected to be unveiled in September. This timeframe would make sense, as Xiaomi could leverage a joint launch to create a stronger media presence, something it does quite regularly.

The pricing policy also remains unclear for now, but given the tablet’s premium position in the brand’s portfolio, it can be expected that the price will exceed 10,000 CZK.

Competition in the Compact Tablet Market

Xiaomi’s entry into the premium compact tablet segment comes at a time when Apple practically holds a monopoly in this field with its iPad Mini. Android alternatives of similar size usually focus on the lower or mid-range, so the Xiaomi Pad Mini could fill a gap in the market.

As soon as more information about the global launch of the Xiaomi Pad Mini becomes available, we will inform you.

Would you appreciate a compact and powerful tablet in Europe?
