The Chinese company Xiaomi is expanding its portfolio of home entertainment projectors. It has just introduced the Laser Projector 3 model on the Chinese market, which is already being sold on the local JD.com platform in pre-sale for 4,399 yuan (approximately 12,850 CZK excluding tax). The latest addition to the already extensive product catalog boasts primarily native 4K resolution and an integrated gimbal that facilitates image adjustment.

Peak image quality

At the heart of the new projector is a 0.47-inch DMD chip complemented by a high-transmittance lens. The device uses a three-color laser light source that can project an image with a diagonal of up to 120 inches. The light output reaches 1000 CVIA lumens, with a contrast ratio of 1600:1, ensuring deep blacks and sharp details. While it’s not quite ready for daytime content viewing, the projector should perform excellently in a well-darkened room or at night.

The Laser Projector 3 covers 110% of the BT.2020 color space and supports MEMC technology for smooth motion playback. Support for HDR10 and HDR10+ formats is also included. For eye protection, the device has received SGS certification confirming low blue light emission.

Unique design with gimbal

One of the most significant innovations of the projector is the integrated gimbal, which allows for rotation up to 130 degrees. This makes it easy to set the optimal projection angle without physically moving the entire device. The projector is also equipped with an 8×8 multi-point ToF laser module and a high-resolution camera, which, in conjunction with artificial intelligence algorithms, ensure automatic keystone correction and focus.

Powerful hardware and smart features

The projector’s smooth operation is handled by a quad-core MediaTek MT9667 processor complemented by 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The device supports the HyperOS Connect function for easy connection with other Xiaomi ecosystem devices, the XiaoAi voice assistant (which is not available here), and NFC for easy screen sharing. Connectivity includes HDMI 2.1 with eARC supporting 4K input at 120 Hz, a 3.5mm audio connector, and USB ports.

Quality sound without external speakers

The audio experience is provided by two 8W speakers complemented by a large rear acoustic chamber and four passive radiators. The entire audio system supports Dolby Audio and digital Hi-Fi tuning, which according to Xiaomi, delivers a rich and immersive sound experience without the need to connect an external audio system.

While the Smart Projector L1 Pro is already available in the Czech Republic for 7,399 CZK, the new Laser Projector 3 is currently only available in China. However, if it were to reach the Czech market, it would likely be significantly more expensive than the L1 Pro model, given its more advanced technologies and significantly better specifications.
