Xiaomi’s Vienna presentation wasn’t just about the 17T series phones. The company also launched an entire family of wearables, with the most interesting new product being the Xiaomi Watch S5 46mm. They promise over three weeks of battery life, a significantly brighter display, and the option to change the bezel according to your mood. They will arrive in Czechia practically immediately, with prices starting at 3,999 CZK.

Lightweight body that you can customize

The Watch S5 features a 46mm case, but despite its size, it weighs only 46 grams and is 10.99 millimeters thin. The middle frame is made of stainless steel, which adds to both durability and overall impression. However, the main design trick lies elsewhere — the bezel is interchangeable, and Xiaomi offers variants made of stainless steel, ceramic, and forged carbon. Along with a wide range of straps, including leather ones, the watch can easily transition from the office to the running track and back, without always looking the same.

The front is dominated by a 1.48-inch AMOLED display, whose bezel is 40 percent narrower compared to its predecessor. The maximum brightness reaches up to 2500 nits, so readability should not be an issue even in direct sunlight.

Three weeks without a charger

What still matters most in smartwatches is battery life. The Watch S5 features a Xiaomi Surge battery with a capacity of 815 mAh, and the manufacturer promises up to 21 days of typical use. The number sounds appealing, but as always, it depends on the settings. The advertised battery life assumes power-saving mode is enabled and a specific usage scenario. As soon as you turn on the always-on display, more intensive sports tracking with GNSS enabled, or frequent Bluetooth calls, the number will decrease. Even so, the Watch S5 ranks among watches you don’t have to charge every other day, which is a key argument for many people.

Sport, sleep, and cheering as a discipline

In terms of health and activity tracking, the Watch S5 offers over 150 sports modes and an improved heart rate sensor with a four-LED and four-photodiode configuration. Xiaomi states a measurement accuracy of up to 98.4 percent — this is again a value from their own laboratory, so we should take it more as an indicative promise than a verified fact. A more practical improvement comes with dual-band GNSS supporting five satellite systems, which should enhance route recording during outdoor activities.

In the area of sleep, weekly and monthly reports have been added, along with heart rate variability tracking during sleep. Xiaomi developed these features in collaboration with expert organizations like the World Sleep Society, which sounds more solid than typical marketing phrases. On the other hand, more for amusement is the new Passion Mode, which recognizes cheering gestures and converts them into calories burned, heart rate, and the number of gestures. If someone needs to measure how enthusiastically they clap at a concert, this is for them.

Connectivity with phone and smart home

The watch runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and is designed for seamless connectivity with smartphones. It can handle remote camera control, phone finding, controlling connected headphones, or automatic synchronization of health and sports data. It also works with the Xiaomi Home system, fitting into the smart home ecosystem. However, the old rule applies here — you’ll get the most convenience when paired with a Xiaomi phone; some features might not work fully with other brands.

Price and availability

The Xiaomi Watch S5 46mm are available immediately through official Xiaomi channels and authorized retailers, starting at 3,999 CZK. However, the watch didn’t arrive alone. The Vienna presentation also introduced the smart band Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro (from 1,099 CZK), wireless headphones Xiaomi Buds 6 (from 2,699 CZK), and the portable speaker Xiaomi Sound Play. They were complemented by the Redmi Watch 6 (from 2,399 CZK). Additionally, Xiaomi is adding a new purple Violet Collection to many products, so this year’s novelties will also be available in a subtle purple finish.
