Artificial intelligence is slowly but surely finding its way into every corner of mobile operating systems, and Samsung is certainly not lagging behind in this trend. The South Korean manufacturer has added the Driving Insights feature to the recently released One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy S26 series, which aims to turn your phone into a virtual instructor for an advanced driving course. Using sensors and AI, it will evaluate how you perform behind the wheel and regularly provide you with an overview of your habits. Details about the new feature were reported by Android Authority.

What does Driving Insights track?

You can find the application in your phone’s settings under the paired devices section, and its great advantage is that it doesn’t require any OBD adapter or other external accessories – it relies solely on smartphone sensors. It tracks your average and maximum speed, evaluates braking and acceleration style, and also registers sudden steering wheel movements. From this data, it then compiles daily or weekly summaries, which are to be delivered via the Now Brief feature.

Driving Insights automatically activates when the phone connects to the vehicle’s infotainment system via Bluetooth or Android Auto. You can also save specific home and work addresses in the app, allowing it to offer personalized overviews of your most frequent routes.

Geofencing is also included

In addition to driving analysis, the new feature also offers geofencing. You can define an area in the app within which your vehicle should operate, and if it leaves this zone, your phone will immediately notify you. This can be useful, for example, for parents who need to monitor where their child drives the car.

Czechs are out of luck for now

The feature is currently rolling out as part of the One UI 9 beta on Galaxy S26 phones, but this beta is not officially available in the Czech Republic. Czech owners of Samsung’s latest flagships will therefore have to wait for Driving Insights until the stable version is released, which is expected to happen around autumn. It is also possible that the feature will be further improved by then based on user feedback.

Will you let your phone evaluate your driving style?
