OLED on a gaming desk attracts mainly with contrast in dark scenes and fast response. The Samsung Odyssey OLED G5 (G50SF) brings these features for a price under seven thousand: Alza has the 27-inch model with QHD resolution in stock for 6,990 CZK. You don’t need a code or membership, and compared to early October, it’s even cheaper than the previous offer with a coupon.

QHD OLED that doesn’t try to be a mirror

The flat QD-OLED panel combines a 27-inch diagonal with a resolution of 2,560 × 1,440 pixels. It’s an interesting combination for gamers who want a sharper image than Full HD and at the same time don’t want to switch to a large monitor.

The matte Glare Free finish reduces light reflections in the room. The typical brightness is 200 cd/m², so the monitor benefits from a location out of direct sunlight.

For full 180 Hz, use DisplayPort

The refresh rate depends on the connection: via DisplayPort it reaches up to 180 Hz, via HDMI the limit is 144 Hz. Fortunately, the DisplayPort cable is included in the package. G-Sync and FreeSync support then helps to synchronize the image with the graphics card’s performance when the frame rate fluctuates during gaming.

Otherwise, the equipment is quite modest. The basic stand can be tilted, the monitor does not have built-in speakers. For sound, therefore, count on headphones or your own speakers. OLED Safeguard automatically reduces the brightness of static elements, such as the taskbar, to reduce the risk of burn-in.
