Anyone who has mounted a large LG OLED TV on the wall usually encounters the same problem: the thin panel sounds weak, and a regular soundbar underneath looks like a brick. LG has the SG10TY model for this, which is only 3.25 cm thin and sits snugly under the TV. Alza has discounted it to 6,990 CZK as part of Black Friday, a 53% reduction. According to Heureka, it has never been cheaper.

Quick summary:
✅ Makes sense for a large wall-mounted LG TV, especially for the G series OLED, for which it is designed.
⚠️ Consider that Dolby Atmos is only simulated, and you have to buy rear speakers separately.
💡 For 6,990 CZK you get a soundbar with a wireless subwoofer, which cost 14,990 CZK before the promotion.

Three channels, wireless subwoofer, and 420 W power

The SG10TY is a 3.1 system, meaning left, right, and center channels in the soundbar plus a separate subwoofer. The manufacturer states a total power of 420 W, of which, according to Alza, 220 W is for the subwoofer, which connects wirelessly to the soundbar. The center channel is especially useful for dialogues, which then don’t get lost in music and effects.

It connects to the TV via HDMI with eARC, and an optical input and Bluetooth are also available. Thanks to Wi-Fi, the soundbar can play music via AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, and TIDAL Connect, so it can be used as a speaker even without the TV turned on. It supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X formats, and the package includes an HDMI cable, a remote control, and a wall mount.

Soundbar as thin as a wall-mounted TV

The SG10TY is designed for wall mounting. The soundbar is 144.6 cm wide but only 3.25 cm deep, so it sits snugly under the TV and doesn’t protrude. LG designed it for G series OLED TVs, which are mounted directly on the wall, and its appearance matches them. The width corresponds roughly to a 65-inch TV; under a smaller model, the soundbar will overhang. For the subwoofer, expect it on the floor: it measures 18 × 39.4 × 29 cm, and only the signal is wireless; you still need to plug it into an outlet.

With compatible LG TVs, the soundbar also offers three additional features. LG mentions control directly from the TV menu, synergy with its speakers (WOW Orchestra), and readiness for WOWCAST wireless connection. However, these features only work with selected LG models; with a TV of another brand, the soundbar will function as a regular soundbar via HDMI. We described what G series TVs can do, for example, with the 77-inch LG G5 OLED TV.

Dolby Atmos only virtually and without rear speakers

With Dolby Atmos support, you should pay attention. The SG10TY does not have upward-firing speakers; the height layer of sound is only calculated virtually. The manufacturer itself states in the notes that it synthesizes the sound of the overhead speakers. The overhead sound effect will therefore be weaker than with soundbars featuring actual height speakers.

The same applies to surround sound behind you. Rear speakers are not included in the package, and LG warns that without them, the rear sound field will not be created. They can be purchased separately, but this will increase the price.

There are also limitations for gamers. You can connect a console directly to the soundbar, which will then send the image to the TV, but at 4K and 120 Hz, only in YCbCr 4:2:0 color format with 8-bit depth. The soundbar supports VRR and ALLM, but the console and TV must also support them. Anyone who wants to get full image quality from a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X should rather connect the console directly to the TV and send the audio to the soundbar via eARC.

For 6,990 CZK, it makes sense primarily for a large LG TV

The SG10TY is best suited for owners of an LG G series OLED TV or another large wall-mounted LG TV who want a subwoofer and a center channel for their TV without a bulky soundbar under the screen. For 6,990 CZK, they get a subwoofer, a center channel for dialogues, and music streaming. It can also satisfy anyone looking for a soundbar with a subwoofer and Wi-Fi streaming who doesn’t want to spend more than 7,000.

If you have a smaller TV on a stand, or if you’re looking for true surround sound with overhead and rear effects, look for a different model. The SG10TY won’t offer that without rear speakers and height drivers.

Is a soundbar with virtual surround sound enough for your TV, or do you want actual speakers around you?
