Anyone who reads documents all day, writes a thesis, or switches between spreadsheets will appreciate one thing above all: sharp text that doesn’t strain their eyes after a few hours. This is precisely what the 27-inch Samsung ViewFinity S7 with 4K resolution aims for, which you can now get at Alza with code ALZADNY20 for 4,392 CZK. Compared to the usual 5,490 CZK, you save a fifth of the price.

Quick summary:
✅ Makes sense for a study, for studying, and for home office, where you spend hours on text.
⚠️ Consider that the refresh rate is only 60 Hz, the stand only tilts, and USB-C is missing.
💡 For 4,392 CZK, you get a 4K monitor with an IPS panel, 99% sRGB coverage, and two video inputs.

27 inches and 4K provide sharp text and space for two windows

A resolution of 3,840 × 2,160 pixels on 27 inches results in approximately 163 pixels per inch. For comparison: a typical 27-inch monitor with 1440p resolution has around 109. In practice, this means that text and icon edges look finer, similar to the display of a good laptop. In Windows, 4K on 27 inches usually involves turning on 150% scaling. You then have roughly the same desktop space as on 1440p, but everything is sharper.

According to Samsung, the IPS panel displays up to 1.07 billion colors and covers 99% of the sRGB space, which is where most web content, mobile photos, and videos reside. Viewing angles are 178°, so colors don’t change even when looking at the screen from a wider angle. The display has a matte finish that handles reflections from a window.

The manufacturer also mentions an Eye Saver mode for reducing blue light and Flicker Free technology to prevent flickering. Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture functions display two sources simultaneously, such as a work laptop and a personal computer side-by-side. Connectivity is provided by one HDMI 2.0 and one DisplayPort 1.2, both capable of 4K at 60 Hz. An HDMI cable is included in the package.

Gamers and HDR enthusiasts will want a different monitor

With a refresh rate of 60 Hz, the ViewFinity S7 is not suitable for fast-paced games. Anyone playing shooters will likely notice the difference compared to a 144Hz monitor within a few minutes. However, it may suffice for slower titles or a console.

HDR10 support on the box is enticing, but a typical brightness of 300 nits is not enough for a true HDR experience. The monitor will accept and display HDR content, but don’t expect significantly bright scenes from it. For regular work, 300 nits is more than enough.

Also, expect other compromises. The stand only allows tilting; you cannot adjust the height or swivel, so a VESA 100 × 100 mm desk mount might be useful. USB-C is missing, so a laptop without HDMI can be connected via a cable or a USB-C adapter. And it has no speakers, only a headphone output.

Students and remote workers will appreciate it the most

The ViewFinity S7 makes sense primarily for those who look at a monitor for work: a student writing papers, an accountant with spreadsheets, or a programmer with code on half the screen. It also serves well as a second display for a laptop, turning it into a full-fledged workstation at home. For 4,392 CZK with code ALZADNY20, it’s a well-equipped 4K monitor from an established brand.

Gamers who want smooth visuals and MacBook users who would like to connect a monitor with a single cable should look elsewhere. And those who want more space might consider a larger model from the same family – we recently also caught the 37-inch ViewFinity S8 on sale.

Do you work on a 4K monitor, or is a lower resolution sufficient for you?
