You can mute or pause music by touching the earbud, but as soon as you want to switch the equalizer or other settings, with most models you have to unlock your phone and look for an app. With JBL Live Flex 3, this step is eliminated, because you can find the settings on the charging case with its own display. Now, with code ALZADNY40, you can buy them for 2 994 Kč, in silver. They dropped below the three thousand Czech crown mark on Alza only in mid-October.

Quick summary:
✅ Makes sense if you hate silicone ear tips, often make calls, and switch headphones between your phone and laptop.
⚠️ Consider if earbuds without tips fit your ear, and don’t expect the same silence as from earplugs.
💡 For 2 994 Kč you get a case with a display, connection to two devices, and with charging from the case up to 50 hours of listening.

Change equalizer and other settings on the case display

The main draw is the case, which JBL calls the Smart Charging Case. It has a 1.45-inch touch display on the lid. You can control volume, pause, or answer calls by touching the earbuds themselves, so the case doesn’t bring anything revolutionary in that regard. Its purpose is in the settings, for which you would otherwise reach for the JBL Headphones app. The manufacturer states that you can adjust the equalizer on the display and also see phone notifications. According to customers, you can also make an earbud beep through it if it rolled under the couch. Plus, you can set your own photo as a wallpaper.

This is especially practical when you don’t have your phone at hand. For example, when you connect the headphones to a laptop or TV and don’t want to search for your phone just to change the equalizer. The price for the display is size. The case weighs 63.7 grams, and several Alza customers explicitly write that it is larger than typical earbud cases, so it might not fit comfortably into a small jeans pocket.

Earbuds without tips last 10 hours and can connect to two devices simultaneously

Live Flex 3 are classic earbuds, meaning headphones without silicone tips that sit loosely in the ear canal. They play through 12mm drivers, have IP54 resistance against sweat and rain, and connect to two devices simultaneously. Six microphones are used for calls. Wireless charging of the case and finding via Google Finder also work.

JBL states battery life of up to 10 hours without noise cancellation and 7 hours with ANC enabled. The case then adds another approximately 40 hours, for a total of up to 50 hours of listening. With two hours of listening per day, they will last about three weeks without a charger.

Below three thousand for the first time in the last year, but in summer they cost only 158 Kč more

According to HlídačShopů, the headphones have primarily ranged between 3 400 and 3 600 Kč over the last year, briefly returning to the full 4 990 Kč. They dropped below three thousand for the first time on October 14th, when they cost 2 974 Kč for a single day, and since October 15th, they have maintained the price of 2 994 Kč with code ALZADNY40. Compared to the stated price of 4 990 Kč, this is a discount of 1 996 Kč, or 40%.

It should be added, however, that from August 11th to September 21st, they cost 3 152 Kč on Alza. Compared to summer, you save 158 Kč, roughly 5%. Those who have been waiting for Live Flex 3 for a long time won’t go wrong. Those who wanted them in the summer didn’t miss a huge opportunity. (By the way, we recently reported older Live Flex without a display for under 1 500 Kč)

Customers praise the sound, but fit in the ear is a lottery

On Alza, the headphones have a rating of 4.2 out of 5 from 32 customers, and 81% of them recommend them. Written reviews most often praise the bass-heavy, pleasing sound, long battery life, quality craftsmanship, and functional connection to two devices. Some customers praise the display on the case as practical, while others see it more as a gimmick, as touch controls or an app can do the same.

Most complaints are directed at the shape. The earbuds are relatively large and fall out of some people’s ears, especially during movement. Touch control is also related to this: when you adjust the earbud in your ear, you can easily accidentally pause the music. Several customers also write that noise cancellation is weak, which is not surprising for earbuds without tips. Neither the app nor the case supports Czech, and one reviewer misses the name of the currently playing song on the display. Alza states a complaint rate of 7.27% for the product.

Yes for calls and all-day wear, rather no for noisy subway

They will be appreciated mainly by people who dislike earplugs in their ears and want headphones for the whole day: for calls from the office, podcasts on a tram ride, or a series on a tablet. If you often switch between a laptop and a phone, multipoint and the display will come in handy, allowing you to set up the headphones even when they are connected to the laptop and the phone is elsewhere.

On the other hand, those looking for headphones for a noisy subway or for running will likely be more satisfied with a model with silicone ear tips. These hold better and provide better isolation. However, if you tolerate earbuds well and are tempted by the smart case, you can now get Live Flex 3 for the first time in the last year for under three thousand for 2 994 Kč with code ALZADNY40.

Would you prefer to set up your headphones on the case display, or is the app on your phone sufficient for you?
