Android Auto gets a new logo. It will surprise with its color, but much bigger changes are just around the corner

Google is preparing the biggest visual transformation for Android Auto in recent years. However, the first tangible step didn’t come in the form of a new feature – the automotive platform will first get a new icon, which now shines green instead of the traditional blue.

The new icon is green

The first thing you’ll notice about the change is the shift from blue to green. Google also opted for solid colors instead of a color gradient, which it used for some of its other apps. The icon also received rounder corners, even on the arrow resembling a paper airplane. There is now a bit more space between the green and white parts.

The novelty arrived with version 17.6.663424 and is currently only visible to some users – it will likely appear with one of the upcoming app updates. However, nothing else is changing besides the logo; no new features accompany the icon yet. The change was reported by Android Authority.

Much bigger improvements await Android Auto

The green logo is mainly a harbinger. In the spring, Google showed off a huge load of new features, including a completely new Android Auto, which is undergoing a major redesign – smoother elements in the spirit of Material 3, fewer angular shapes, and most importantly, widget support, as well as the long-awaited video playback directly on the car’s display.
