Autumn evenings are long, and you’ll enjoy movies, series, and sports broadcasts much more on a giant screen, that is, if it fits in your living room. This year’s LG 85QNED80B6A has a diagonal of 215 cm and cost 42,990 CZK at its market launch. Now you can buy it on Alza with code ALZADNY20 for 31,990 CZK, which is roughly a quarter cheaper. Alza has not sold it at a more advantageous price yet.

Quick summary:
✅ Makes sense if you have a spacious living room and primarily want movies, series, and sports on the largest possible screen.
⚠️ Consider if native 60 Hz and HDR without Dolby Vision are enough for you – it might not be sufficient for gamers with a PS5 or Xbox Series X.
💡 For 31,990 CZK you get this year’s model with Mini LED and webOS 26, plus free shipping.

Save 11,000 CZK compared to the launch price

At launch, the TV cost 42,990 CZK on Alza. At the turn of September and October, it dropped to 37,885 CZK, and now with code ALZADNY20, it comes out to 31,990 CZK. Compared to the original price, you save 11,000 CZK, which is roughly 26%. And even compared to prices from three weeks ago, it’s another 5,895 CZK less.

The price is valid at the time of writing and only with the entered code in the cart; without it, you will pay significantly more. Alza has the model in stock, offers free shipping, and you can now also order wall mounting for free, which normally costs 1,899 CZK.

Mini LED backlighting and a processor that upscales to 4K

According to LG, the TV uses a 4K panel with Mini LED backlighting and Precision Dimming technology. This controls the backlighting by zones, dimming dark parts of the scene and keeping bright parts lit. Dynamic QNED Color Pro technology takes care of colors, with which LG promises 100% color volume.

The image is handled by the alpha 7 AI 4K Gen9 processor, which upscales less sharp content to 4K. On 85 inches, this is important because regular TV broadcasts appear blurry here without good upscaling. Although the description on Alza mentions a more powerful alpha 8 processor in one place, LG’s official specifications state alpha 7.

The webOS 26 system offers Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, and HBO Max, and you can send content from your mobile to the TV via Google Cast or AirPlay. According to the manufacturer, Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot are also supposed to help with searching, but LG does not specify how well they handle Czech. As part of the webOS Re:New program, LG promises four system updates over five years.

Without a stand, the TV measures almost 190 cm in width

Before you order it, grab a tape measure. Without a stand, the TV measures 188.9 × 108.7 cm and weighs 27.9 kg. The stand takes up approximately 157 cm in width and 36 cm in depth, so the cabinet under the TV must be at least this wide. Those who don’t have one can use wall mounting. The TV has standard VESA 400 × 400 mounting.

Don’t expect miracles from the sound. Two speakers have a combined 20 W and are downward-firing. Although LG promises virtual 9.1.2 surround sound, it probably won’t be enough for a room where an 85-inch TV fits. Therefore, factor a soundbar into your budget right away.

Native 60 Hz might not be enough for PS5 gamers

The biggest compromise is in the refresh rate. The panel has a native 60 Hz, and variable refresh rate (VRR) also only works up to 60 Hz. While the Motion Booster 120 feature can handle up to 120 Hz, according to LG, it’s only in reduced Full HD quality. Those who want to play on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X in 4K and 120 frames per second will not find what they need here.

The second limitation concerns HDR. According to specifications, the TV supports only HDR10 and HLG; Dolby Vision and HDR10+ are missing. For movies from streaming services that offer Dolby Vision, you will therefore watch the basic HDR version.

Who will benefit from an 85-inch TV for 31,990 CZK

If you have enough space, mainly watch movies, series, or football, and play rather occasionally, for 31,990 CZK you will get a giant Mini LED TV from this year’s lineup. It will also be appreciated by those who considered a projector but don’t want to darken the living room for every movie. Avid gamers, however, should look for a TV with a 120Hz panel, and Dolby Vision fans should look for a model that supports it. Both are offered by, for example, the LG 86QNED85A3C with 144 Hz, about whose discount we wrote in the spring.

Would an 85-inch TV fit in your living room?
