DJI launched sales of Osmo Pocket 4P. The pocket camera received a true telephoto lens

The battle for vloggers’ pockets has a new contender. Following its Chinese premiere, DJI has launched worldwide sales of the Osmo Pocket 4P camera, which is the very first from its workshop to bear the Pro designation. It is clearly aimed at the Insta360 Luna Ultra, a competing pocket camera from early June, and its main weapon is to be a triple telephoto lens – something that is not a given for this type of device.

Two Lenses Instead of One

The Pocket 4P shares its main sensor with its cheaper sibling: it’s a CMOS “one-inch type” with an aperture of f/2.0 and a 20mm focal length equivalent, capable of shooting at 33 Mpx. The new feature is the added telephoto lens – a 1/1.28-inch sensor with an aperture of f/1.8 and a 60mm equivalent. In practice, this means that when zooming in, you don’t have to rely on digital cropping, but have real optics available. The Pro model is also the only one in its generation to support 17 levels of increased dynamic range.

Three and a Half Hours on a Single Charge

Control is handled by a two-inch AMOLED viewfinder with 1,000 nits of brightness, and power is supplied by a 1,545 mAh battery. DJI promises a battery life of up to 210 minutes, or three and a half hours of recording – this being a manufacturer’s figure, which usually shrinks somewhat in the field, especially in more demanding modes and in cold conditions.

Choose Your Kit

The purchase is complicated by the typically fragmented package offering. The basic Standard Combo includes the camera, fill light module, threaded handle, case, and small accessories for 599 euros (approximately 14,700 CZK). The Vlog Combo costs the same in Europe and swaps some accessories for the Mic Mini 2 microphone, Osmo FrameTap holder, mini tripod, and bag – while being fifty dollars more expensive in dollars, so European customers can choose according to need, not price. In selected countries, there is also a kit with a 140 W charger. It remains a curiosity that DJI does not sell the camera directly in the United States. Orders are starting to ship this week.
