If you wear a Pixel Watch, check your settings in the coming days. This year’s biggest Wear OS update is apparently ready for release — revealed by US operator Verizon, which has already published the complete changelogs. Google is silent for now, but such a detailed leak usually means only one thing: the rollout is a matter of days.

Verizon spoke before Google

Google introduced Wear OS 7 at the I/O conference this May with a vague promise of “later this year.” No one probably expected it to be this soon. However, on June 9, Verizon published changelogs on its support pages for Pixel Watch 2, 3, and 4 — all with the same build CP2A.260603.001 and the June security patch. For Pixel Watch 2, it’s System Update 20, and for the third generation, it’s System Update 9.

Although Verizon states a release date of June 9, 2026, according to both 9to5Google and Android Authority, the update has not yet landed for users, and Google has not announced anything. The operator most likely just prepared the pages in advance. For me, this is rather good news — it means the update is ready and waiting to be launched.

And one piece of bad news for owners of the first generation from 2022: it’s missing from the list. Google promised it updates only until October 2025, so it won’t get Wear OS 7.

What Wear OS 7 brings: mainly battery and widgets

No visual revolution is happening, but the list of changes is not short. The most tangible promise: approximately 10% longer battery life purely through software, without hardware replacement. For watches like the 41mm Pixel Watch 4, which officially lasts 30 hours, this could be the difference between “I’ll charge it in the evening” and “I’ll charge it in the morning.”

The second big thing: the end of full-screen tiles. They are replaced by Wear Widgets in 2×1 and 2×2 sizes, which look and function practically the same as widgets on an Android phone. This makes it easier for developers to port phone widgets to watches, and you get a more flexible interface. Also new are Live Updates (live-updating notifications, such as a countdown for food delivery), an audio output switcher directly in the player, the option to disable automatic music control pop-ups for individual apps, and a unified interface for third-party workout apps.

One thing to note: Gemini Intelligence, the proactive AI layer, is, according to available information, expected to arrive only on “selected watches” later in the year — likely with new hardware. Current Pixel Watches will get the system, but probably not this cherry on top. From my perspective, this is a shame, as Google promoted AI the most during the presentation.

What this means for Czech owners

Verizon is an American operator, but don’t be fooled — in our country, Pixel Watches are sold as Bluetooth/Wi-Fi versions, and updates come directly from Google via OTA; no Czech operator delays them. However, Google releases rollouts in waves, so one owner might see the update days earlier than another.

Quick Summary

Pros: update for three generations of watches at once, 10% longer battery life without new hardware, phone-like widgets, Live Updates.
⚠️ Catches: Google has not yet officially launched the rollout, the first Pixel Watch remains without an update, and current models will likely not receive Gemini Intelligence.
💡 Tip: Before installing a major update, charge your watch to at least 50% and leave it on the charger — OTA updates for Pixel Watch can take tens of minutes.
