Huawei has long played the same game with its headphones: giving people flagship features at a slightly lower price than the competition. AlzaPlus+ members can now buy FreeBuds Pro 5 for 4,249 CZK instead of 4,999 CZK and get earbuds that reviewers worldwide put in direct competition with AirPods Pro 3 and Sony WF-1000XM6 – i.e., more expensive models.

👍 Get them if you have Android, make a lot of calls outdoors, and want top-notch noise cancellation with balanced sound.
🤔 Hesitate if you’re an Apple user – some features are tied to the Huawei AI Life app, which you simply cannot install on iOS.
💰 Price tag: 4,249 CZK for headphones that beat models costing seven thousand and more in tests.

Two Drivers That Can Also Cancel Noise

The main technical innovation sounds like a marketing slogan, but it works: each earbud houses a dynamic driver for bass and a planar unit for treble, both of which are involved not only in music playback but also in generating anti-noise. Huawei calls this dual-engine ANC, and according to its own measurements, it can suppress twice as much noise as the previous generation.

The sound aims for balance, not booming bass: frequency range 10 to 48,000 Hz, support for the LDAC codec for Hi-Res transmission, and Huawei’s own L2HC 4.0 codec, which with its 2.3 Mb/s can handle lossless transmission, but only with compatible Huawei phones. Eight microphones, including a bone sensor, make the FreeBuds Pro 5, according to reviewers, one of the best headphones for phone calls in their entire class – especially in windy conditions where other models fail. On Alza, they have a rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 20 customers.

Where You Might Encounter Issues

International tests agree on two criticisms. The first is battery life – roughly six hours with ANC on and twenty-five hours with the case is average for this class, and with LDAC enabled, the number drops further; competitors today offer eight to nine hours. The second is the ecosystem: the headphones work on an iPhone, but without the full app, you’ll lose some settings, and reviews point out that Bose and Sony still lead in pure noise cancellation. For sports, also prepare better ear tips; one reviewer reported them coming loose from the ears during exercise, even though the IP57 rating resists sweat and rain without problems.

For an Android user who commutes daily and makes phone calls, this is currently the best price-to-feature ratio on the market for 4,249 CZK.

How long do your headphones last on a single charge, and is battery life crucial for you?
