Fall detection and voice control. Garmin updates more than a dozen models

Garmin had barely introduced the new generation of Fenix watches last week when it sent out a major update to owners of older watches as well. The package for the third quarter is rolling out to more than a dozen models and brings with it several things worth noting. As usual, however, it applies that it may take several weeks before it reaches everyone.

Watches you just need to talk to

The most interesting feature is the improved voice control. With the command „OK Garmin”, you can now start an activity, for example, without having to fumble through menus with sweaty fingers. If you want to address the assistant on your paired phone, a separate command „Phone Assistant” is used for that. The Quick Workout feature has also been added, which will create a recommended workout for you based only on how much time you have and how much you want to push yourself.

Fall detection, but only for the chosen ones

Fall detection with automatic emergency assistance deserves attention – a feature well known to Apple Watch owners. The catch is that only the Venu 4 model receives it, not the entire wave of updated watches. Garmin has released a table with its package, from which it is clear that individual new features differ among models. So, before you rejoice, take a look at it.

Who will get it

The list is quite long: Fenix 8, Fenix 8 Pro, and Fenix E, as well as Tactix 8, Quatix 8 and 8 Pro, D2 Mach 2 and Mach 2 Pro, Enduro 3, Venu X1 and Venu 4, Vivoactive 6, D2 Air X15, and a range of Forerunners – specifically models 70, 170, 170 Music, 570, and 970. Divers will also find minor additions, as dive settings can now be shared with compatible computers via Garmin Share. Cyclists with Edge navigators will gain automatic lap recognition and counting. New Garmin Coach training plans and an activity for cross-country skiing on a trainer have also been added.
