IKEA will soon introduce a bunch of smart products! They will support Matter, and this is what they look like Home News Leaked photos show the real appearance of seven IKEA Matter products we wrote about in August The design of some devices differs significantly from initial assumptions and leaks In addition to the already known products, two completely new items have appeared – an outdoor and an indoor smart plug Sdílejte: Jakub Kárník Published: 6. 9. 2025 00:30 Advertisement At the end of August, we informed you about seven new Matter products from IKEA that appeared in the DCL certification database. At that time, we only knew their names and basic functions. Now, thanks to a leak from the German website ifun.de, we finally know, what the devices will look like. And in some cases, it’s quite a surprise. Remember – in August, we wrote about the Myggspray motion sensor, the Alpstuga air quality monitor, and the Bilresa smart switches. All these devices are in the leaked photos. However, their design is completely different from what was expected. Bilresa switches: dial confirmed, design surprised Sensors change shape – from prisms to pucks Surprise: two devices we didn't know about January is approaching, prices still a mystery Bilresa switches: dial confirmed, design surprised The Bilresa smart switches, which we speculated about in August, are attracting the most attention. At that time, we knew that one model was supposed to have a rotary dial for dimming, and the other a pair of buttons. The leaked photos confirm this, but the design is completely different from earlier alleged leaks. Instead of a square design, the switches feature rounded shapes. The dimming dial is elegantly integrated into the switch body. This is great news for anyone who wants to smoothly adjust brightness without frantically pressing buttons. Current IKEA controllers lack a dial. Sensors change shape – from prisms to pucks Remember how we wrote that the Alpstuga air quality monitor is supposed to replace Vindstyrka? The reality is that the new model looks diametrically different. While Vindstyrka is a tall prism, Alpstuga is a flat, circular puck. The Myggspray motion sensor underwent a similar transformation – instead of a square, it gets a circular design. The Timmerflotte temperature and humidity sensor, which we mentioned as a completely new addition to IKEA’s portfolio, looks like a miniature white box. The design is minimalist and discreet, which you’ll appreciate in a sensor – you certainly don’t want it to spoil your interior. Surprise: two devices we didn’t know about But the biggest surprise comes in the form of two completely new products that were not in the August DCL database. The first is the Tofsmygga outdoor smart plug – something IKEA customers have been waiting for years. Finally, you’ll be able to control garden lighting or Christmas lights via an app. The second new item is the Grillplats indoor smart plug with a rounder design than the current Tretakt model. Both plugs will, of course, support Matter, so you can pair them with Google Home, Apple HomeKit, and other systems. The Myggbett door and window sensor, which we mentioned in August as a replacement for Parasoll, looks very similar to its predecessor in the photos. Here, IKEA apparently decided there was nothing to improve. January is approaching, prices still a mystery IKEA is sticking to its July schedule – the first batch of new products is set to arrive in January 2026, just a few weeks away. The second wave will then come in April. In total, there will be more than 20 new Matter products, of which we now know the appearance of eight. What we still don’t know are the prices. But you know IKEA – I’d bet that basic sensors will cost 200-400 crowns, switches around 500 crowns, and smart plugs up to a thousand. It’s fascinating to watch how IKEA is systematically building its smart home portfolio. From just a few light bulbs, they’ve expanded to dozens of products covering all needs. And thanks to Matter certification, you’re no longer locked into their ecosystem – everything works with competitors too. Now I just hope that the assembly instructions will be clearer than for their furniture. How do you like the upcoming IKEA products?
