In less than a week, Xiaomi will unveil a new affordable tablet, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro. Thanks to a recent leak, we already know the complete specifications and can say that it will be a solid evolution. The biggest new feature will be a massive 12000mAh battery, which surpasses its predecessor by a full 20 percent.

Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 instead of the older generation

The heart of the tablet will be the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, a freshly announced mid-range chipset from Qualcomm. Compared to the 7s Gen 2 from the previous generation, this is a significant step forward – a more modern manufacturing process will bring better performance and longer endurance. For everyday work, watching videos, or playing less demanding games, the performance will be more than sufficient.

The display remains the same as its predecessor – a 12.1-inch panel with 2.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. While not an upgrade, these are still top-tier parameters in this price category.

Huge battery with reverse charging

However, the main star is the 12000mAh battery. This is a capacity not commonly seen even in more expensive tablets. For context – its predecessor had 10,000 mAh and comfortably lasted three days of normal use. With the new battery, we can expect even four days of endurance.

Charging speed remains at 33 W, which means longer charging times given the larger battery. However, Xiaomi compensates for this with a new feature – 27 W reverse charging. This allows you to use the tablet as a power bank for your phone or headphones. Given the enormous capacity, this makes sense.

Four speakers and retained jack

The audio setup looks promising. Four speakers with Dolby Atmos support should ensure quality sound when watching movies. Xiaomi has also retained the 3.5mm jack, which owners of quality headphones will appreciate.

The rest of the equipment is standard – an 8Mpx rear camera for occasional document photography, a microSD card slot for storage expansion. It’s a shame we don’t know the RAM and internal storage capacities, but I’d guess at least 6/128 GB as a base.

If Xiaomi maintains a reasonable price, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro could shake up the affordable tablet market. The combination of a large 120Hz display, solid performance, and especially a huge battery makes it an interesting choice for anyone who doesn’t want to spend tens of thousands on premium tablets. After all, we reviewed its predecessor some time ago, and it came out very positively in our tests.
