Looking for an affordable dash cam with GPS and high resolution? LAMAX C11 GPS 4K now costs 2,552 CZK instead of 3,190 CZK with code ALZADNY20, while at its launch in April 2024 it was priced at 4,990 CZK. We will describe its strengths and what to watch out for.

Quick summary:
It makes sense if you want quality 4K footage from the road at a reasonable price and are fine with downloading videos via a card reader or computer.
⚠️ Consider that the mobile app works poorly, the camera is difficult to remove from the magnetic mount, and manufacturer support is weak.
💡 For 2,552 CZK you get a decent image, but with compromises in software and accessories.

Why this dash cam is interesting

LAMAX C11 GPS 4K relies mainly on image quality – it records in real 4K at 30 frames per second, and users praise readable license plates and decent night footage. Instead of a battery, it uses a durable supercapacitor, which better withstands temperature fluctuations in a parked car. It also has GPS with location and speed recording into the video. And thanks to the price dropping from 4,990 CZK to 2,552 CZK, it is an unusually affordable 4K camera.

Key parameters explained simply

The camera offers real 4K (30 fps) and smoother 2.5K (60 fps), saves to the efficient H.265 codec, and has a 3″ touch screen with a Czech menu. The viewing angle is 160°, data can be transferred via 5GHz Wi-Fi, and the camera supports microSD cards up to 256 GB (not included). Power is supplied via USB-C, and the adapter also has a second port with fast charging for a phone. However, note that it does not have its own battery, so parking mode requires continuous power.

Practical aspects: mount, power, accessories

The package includes a self-adhesive magnetic 3M mount, but attaching and detaching the camera from the mount requires practice – this is one of the most common complaints. A suction cup mount and CPL filter are sold separately and are often unavailable for extended periods. Since the camera only operates with continuous power, it turns off approximately ten minutes after the car is switched off, and for parking mode, it needs to be permanently connected. A rear and interior camera can be purchased separately, but when the rear camera is connected, the front recording drops from 4K to a lower, interpolated resolution.

What users say

On Alza, the camera has a rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 104 reviews and is recommended by 79% of customers, with a low return rate (2.64%). Users overwhelmingly praise the image quality day and night, readable license plates in 4K, the durable supercapacitor, and easy setup in Czech.

However, the criticism is recurring, and it’s fair to state it fully. Most often, the mobile application is problematic; it doesn’t work at all for many users or disconnects, so they prefer to download videos via a card reader. Other issues include the difficulty of removing the camera from the magnetic mount, the unavailability of the suction cup mount and CPL filter, and the fact that radar alerts come late, and firmware and database updates are missing. Several people also point out weak responsiveness from LAMAX support and occasional restarts or recording interruptions.

When it doesn’t make sense

If you rely on a fully functional mobile application for convenient footage downloads or on reliable and updated radar alerts, this camera will disappoint you. It’s also less suitable if you want to often easily remove the camera from the car or use parking mode without permanently connected power. In these cases, it’s better to opt for a competitor with refined software.

Verdict: who it’s worth it for

For 2,552 CZK (compared to 3,190 CZK before the promotion and 4,990 CZK at launch), the LAMAX C11 GPS 4K offers really good 4K image quality and a durable battery-free design. It is a solid choice for those primarily concerned with high-quality recording and who don’t mind downloading videos via a computer. However, anyone who wants a refined app, an up-to-date radar database, and easy handling should consider a different model.

Is image quality or a reliable app and support more important to you in a dash cam?
