The saga surrounding the possible end of the OnePlus brand is nearing its resolution. While in January this year the company still vehemently denied speculation about its demise and in spring already admitted it was considering changes in Europe, now, according to a leak, it’s heading for a finale: OnePlus is expected to announce its withdrawal from both the American and European markets this week.

What exactly is to be announced?

The impending move was first reported by renowned insider Roland Quandt in an article for the German website WinFuture, citing well-informed sources. According to him, OnePlus, together with its parent company Oppo, will announce significant strategic changes in the coming days, which are expected to include the end of sales in the USA and Europe. The company has not yet disclosed a specific reason.

This is not a bolt from the blue. We already wrote in January that something was happening with OnePlus: the brand then dismissed speculation about its end as misinformation, but the numbers told a different story – sales in 2024 fell by about a fifth, and its share of the premium market in India plummeted from 21 to just 6 percent. In spring, the company then admitted it was re-evaluating its regional strategy, and virtually a whole host of managers left the European team.

Will OnePlus disappear completely?

Globally, probably not. India and China remain outside the announced changes – there, OnePlus is expected to continue, according to the leak, albeit perhaps in a streamlined form as a simpler product line under Oppo, focused on cheaper phones and tablets. In Europe, Oppo will then take over the brand’s role, as it already supplies its phones here concurrently.

What does this mean for OnePlus owners?

If you own a OnePlus 15 or a Nord series model, there’s no need to panic. According to the leak, the company will continue to provide support and updates for already sold phones until the end of their lifecycle. Remaining stock is to be sold off without further replenishment – European e-shops are, after all, almost sold out already, according to the server.

The question mark hangs more over the future. Anyone looking for a new phone today and tempted by OnePlus should consider that further models may not officially reach Czech stores and long-term local support is uncertain. However, we must emphasize that this whole matter is currently based only on a leak – until OnePlus or Oppo officially confirm anything, take it all with a grain of salt.

Would you still go for a OnePlus phone when its future in Europe hangs by a thread?
