A cloud of information is once again gathering around the next generation of top-tier Samsung phones. The first concrete trace of the Galaxy S27 model has now been brought by the GSMA association database, where manufacturers report upcoming devices before their market launch. It doesn’t reveal much on its own yet, but it confirms that the development of the new flagship is in full swing.

What the GSMA Database Entry Reveals About the Samsung Galaxy S27

The GSMA (GSM Association) database collects IMEI identifiers and is usually the very first semi-official trace we encounter for upcoming phones. The Galaxy S27 appeared in it under the model designation SM-S952. Specifically, it’s the SM-S952U variant, where the trailing letter traditionally indicates the target market – in this case, the United States and its big three carriers.

The entry was first reported by Smartprix. That the phone will head to the USA via major carriers is not surprising – Samsung has been selling its flagships this way for a long time. Therefore, the actual confirmation that the Galaxy S27 is indeed in preparation, and the first clue to its designation, is much more interesting.

Chip, Display, and a Fourth Family Member

The registration itself is silent on the specifications; parallel leaks are expected to cover that. According to them, the Galaxy S27 should be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 2700 chip in at least some markets, while American units will likely receive a solution from Qualcomm. There are also speculations that displays for the new generation could be supplied by the Chinese company BOE instead of the traditional Samsung Display.

However, attention is mainly drawn to the structure of the entire series. There are expected to be four Galaxy S27 models – in addition to the base phone, the larger Plus, and the top-tier Ultra, one more unit should be added. And it is this one that has been talked about the most in recent weeks.

Galaxy S27 Pro: A Replacement for the Unsuccessful Thin Version

The fourth model is expected to be the Galaxy S27 Pro, which, according to current speculations, would replace the thin Edge edition – which did not garner much customer acclaim. The Pro model should dimensionally slot between the base Galaxy S27 and the larger Plus, with talk of a 6.47″ OLED panel.

It is primarily intended to attract with cameras adopted from the top-tier Ultra. A main 200Mpx sensor and a 50Mpx ultrawide lens are expected, with the only compromise compared to the Ultra being the telephoto lens.

When will speculations become reality? Samsung usually unveils its most equipped phones at the turn of January and February, so we can expect the Galaxy S27 premiere likely in early 2027. Until then, a whole series of similar traces will probably appear.

Are you looking forward to the Samsung Galaxy S27, or is the current generation more than enough for you?
