Motorola has taken its sweet time with book-style foldables. While Samsung has brought the Galaxy Z Fold to its seventh generation and Google launched its Pixel Fold line, Motorola spent years just iterating on its flip Razr. Only now, in 2026, comes the Motorola Razr Fold at a base price of 49,990 CZK, which can be reduced to 42,990 CZK with the discount code motorolafold7000. And if you go through the specs, it starts to make sense — this doesn’t look like a quiet return, but a direct slap to the competition.

Book-style Razr after years of flips

Motorola has foldable know-how in its DNA — after all, the Razr 2019 was one of the first foldable phones on the market. But in recent years, the brand strictly stuck to the flip format, leaving the book-style segment to Samsung, Google, Honor, and others. The Razr Fold fills this gap with a double punch: a compact 6.56″ AMOLED display on the outside and an 8.09″ LTPO pOLED panel inside with a resolution of 2484 × 2232 and a peak brightness of 6,200 nits.

The inner display supports adaptive 120 Hz and 10-bit colors, while the external one even manages 165 Hz. Motorola also claims that at full brightness, you’ll practically not see the display crease — which has long been a sore point for foldable phones. The construction is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, the hinge is reinforced with titanium, and the entire body has IP48 and IP49 ratings, so it can survive not only submersion but also a jet of hot water.

What’s worth noting, however, is the weight. The Razr Fold weighs 243 grams, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 managed to slim down to 215 grams.

A camera that doesn’t fit Motorola’s usual profile

In recent years, you wouldn’t have looked to Motorola when searching for the best camera phone. That path is occupied by Apple, Google, Xiaomi, Vivo, and (still) Samsung. The Razr Fold shakes things up a bit — its camera system received the DXOMARK Gold Camera 2026 award with a score of 164 points, and according to the rating, it’s the best camera among foldable smartphones on the market.

The main sensor is the Sony LYTIA 828 with 50 Mpx, a size of 1/1.28″, an aperture of f/1.6, and optical stabilization with a 3.5° range. Additionally, there’s a 50Mpx ultrawide lens with a 122° field of view (also capable of macro) and a 50Mpx periscopic telephoto lens with 3× optical zoom and up to 100× digital zoom. Video can reach up to 8K at 30 fps, plus Dolby Vision support on all lenses.

Of course, real-world testing will show whether it can keep up with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold or Galaxy Z Fold 7 — DXOMARK is a good indication, but not gospel. Nevertheless, the hardware itself, especially with such a bright main lens on a foldable phone, is a very unusual combination.

Stylus included

This is perhaps the most significant difference. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 surprisingly completely dropped stylus support this year, with Samsung effectively discarding one of its long-standing selling points for foldable phones. Motorola took advantage of this and included the Moto Pen Ultra directly in the Razr Fold’s package — a stylus with 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, tilt detection, and support on both displays.

For people who primarily want a foldable as a creative tool or a digital notebook, this is a huge benefit. You can draw, sign documents, or take notes directly on the unfolded 8″ panel, a task that a regular phone simply isn’t sufficient for. In addition, Motorola has added AI features like Sketch Assistant and Sketch to Image, which turn a rough sketch into a reasonable illustration.

Battery and charging in a completely different league

Here, the difference from the competition is most pronounced. The Razr Fold has a 6,000 mAh battery built on silicon-carbon technology, 80W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 5W reverse charging. Next to that, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 looks like it’s from a different decade: 4,400 mAh, 25W wired, and 15W wireless.

In practice, this means you can charge the Razr Fold from zero to one hundred percent in about an hour. And thanks to the capacity advantage, it will also last longer — Motorola promises over 43 hours on a single charge, which is a respectable result for a foldable phone with such large displays.

Under the hood, it’s powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, 16 GB RAM (with an additional 12 GB via RAM Boost), and 512GB storage in the fast UFS 4.1 standard. More attentive readers will notice that this isn’t the Elite Gen 5 version found in, for example, the Galaxy S26 — but for everyday use and demanding gaming, it doesn’t matter, as it’s still top-tier computationally.

Price, code, and what Alza adds to it

The standard price tag of 49,990 CZK isn’t for everyone. However, the discount code motorolafold7000 is currently valid, reducing the amount to 42,990 CZK.

Additionally, Alza is throwing in:

  • Wireless headphones Motorola Moto Buds Loop (Sound by Bose) worth 3,690 CZK
  • One-year AlzaPlus+ membership worth 299 CZK

Would you return to Motorola as your flagship phone, or are you staying loyal to Samsung?
