Just last year, Vivo camera phones with the Ultra moniker were purely a Chinese affair. This year’s X300 Ultra changed that, and its successor is expected to continue on the established course. As reported by GSMArena, the global version of the Vivo X500 Ultra has appeared in the IMEI database, and we already know what the phone might offer.

Turkish database reveals global X500 Ultra

According to GSMArena, a phone with the designation V2660, which is the global variant of the X500 Ultra, has appeared in the Turkish IMEI database. Alongside it, the Jovi X500 Ultra (J2613) also emerged, as Vivo sells its phones under the Jovi brand in Brazil. The database entry suggests that Vivo plans to release the phone outside of China as well.

While Europe is not explicitly mentioned, the mere hint that it won’t be a Chinese exclusive rather suggests it. A big clue is also the path of its predecessor. The Vivo X300 Ultra debuted in China on March 30th and started selling in the Czech Republic as early as April 16th. According to Vivo’s vice president, the successor is expected to arrive on the Chinese market in March or April 2027, but when exactly the global version might reach us is not yet clear.

Telephoto lens to get an even larger 200Mpx sensor

The specifications were revealed by Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, whose posts were cited by Gizmochina. According to him, the test unit features a 200Mpx periscope telephoto lens with a 1/1.2″ sensor. The current X300 Ultra has a 1/1.4″ telephoto lens, so the new sensor would have roughly 36% larger area and capture more light, which would positively impact night photography.

For the main camera with a 35mm focal length, on the other hand, a step back is being discussed. Instead of a 200Mpx sensor with a 1/1.12″ size, it should feature a 50Mpx Sony Lytia 910 with LOFIC technology for higher dynamic range. On paper, this looks like a downgrade, but according to GSMArena, the difference in photo quality might not be that significant.

Performance is expected to be handled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, accompanied by a flat 6.85-inch LTPO AMOLED display from BOE with 2K resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate, under which an ultrasonic fingerprint reader is expected. The battery capacity is said to be between 7,000 and 8,000 mAh; the X300 Ultra has 6,600 mAh. However, all of this pertains to a test unit, and things may change before mass production.

Some of the features are already known from the X500 Pro Max

If the leaks are confirmed, the Ultra will have a lot in common with the Pro Max model. The Vivo X500 Pro Max, which we unboxed in the editorial office, already features a main 50Mpx Sony Lytia 910 sensor, albeit with a 24mm focal length, and a 200Mpx telephoto lens with a smaller 1/1.4″ sensor. The Ultra would thus primarily add a larger telephoto lens and a Snapdragon instead of the Dimensity 9600 Pro chip.

The Pro Max also indicates what to expect regarding the battery. In China, it has 8,000 mAh, while the European version must settle for 6,750 mAh due to shipping regulations. The X300 Ultra, on the other hand, retained its Chinese capacity in Europe. What will happen with the successor is yet unknown.

Would you wait for the X500 Ultra, or is the Pro Max more than enough for you?
