A large foldable display doesn’t have to be the only reason to opt for a foldable phone. Vivo is bringing the X Fold6 to Europe, which, in addition to a 200Mpx main camera, also offers a less common option: to attach a teleconverter, the Vivo Zeiss Telephoto Extender Gen 2. With it, it gains an equivalent focal length of 200 mm, not only for photos but also for video.

Photographic accessory also has its weight

The rear camera setup, tuned with Zeiss, consists of a 200Mpx main camera, a 50Mpx Zeiss APO telephoto lens, and a 50Mpx ultrawide camera. The teleconverter thus expands the phone’s equipment, which already has its own telephoto lens. For video calls and selfies, a 20Mpx camera is available on both the outer and inner displays.

However, the additional optics are not a tiny lens cap. The teleconverter measures 96 mm in length and weighs 153 grams, while the phone itself weighs approximately 228 grams. For shooting distant details, a longer focal length is interesting, but when carrying it, you will need to account for an additional piece of photographic equipment.

Large battery, but thicker body than Samsung’s

The European version differs from the Chinese one in terms of battery. While in China, the X Fold6 has a capacity of 7,000 mAh, the global version gets a 6,900mAh BlueVolt battery. It supports 80W wired and 40W wireless charging.

In the pocket, the Vivo will be slightly more noticeable than the competing Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. When closed, it measures 9.4 mm thick, when unfolded, 4.4 mm, and weighs approximately 228 grams. Samsung, in the same states, measures 8.9 and 4.1 mm and weighs 215 grams. Thus, the X Fold6 does not win this battle with the thinnest or lightest body.

Eight-inch display and five years of system updates

When opened, an 8.02-inch LTPO display with a resolution of 2504 × 2312 pixels becomes accessible. The outer screen has 6.51 inches and a resolution of 2528 × 1120 pixels. Both panels support a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision; the stated peak brightness reaches 5,000 nits.

OriginOS 7 on the vivo XFold 6

The phone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super, complemented by 12 GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It runs on OriginOS7 for Fold, and Vivo promises five years of major system updates and seven years of security patches, until 2033. Samsung, with its current generation of foldables, offers seven years of both types of support, so the difference primarily concerns the duration of new system version delivery.

Price starts at 2,199 euros

The Vivo X Fold6 is available for sale through the official manufacturer’s website in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. There is a choice of black and blue versions, and the European price starts at 2,199 euros, which is approximately 54 thousand.

We do not yet know the Czech price or the start date of sales in the Czech Republic.

Would you use an additional teleconverter with a foldable phone?
