When Xiaomi unveiled the 17 series last autumn, Czech interested parties could buy the basic model for 22 990 Kč and later the Ultra for 35 990 Kč. The Pro and Pro Max versions remained behind Chinese borders, and Europe could only read about them. With the eighteen series, this scenario may not repeat – a fresh certification of two unannounced phones suggests this.

Two model numbers and nothing more

Two unannounced Xiaomi devices with model numbers 2609BPN61G and 2611FPNFAG have appeared in the EEC database. According to leaker Anvin, who drew attention to them on network X, the first model number belongs to the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max and the second to the basic Xiaomi 18. The trade names are currently provisional, and Xiaomi may still change them before the premiere.

You won’t learn anything else from the certification. Regulatory approvals of this type do not reveal battery capacity, chipset, or camera – it’s an official stamp, not a catalog sheet. Its value lies in something else: no one processes papers for foreign markets for a phone they intend to sell only domestically. The suffix “G” in the model number, which Xiaomi has long reserved for global variants, also suggests this.

The Pro Max is interesting, not the eighteen

That the basic Xiaomi 18 will appear outside China is no surprise. The real novelty is the Pro Max. The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max did not leave its homeland, even though it carried the most interesting features the brand showcased last year. When you add to this the older news that the Xiaomi 18 Pro is also heading to international markets, a complete flagship series available outside China is emerging for the first time in years.

However, caution is advised, as sources contradict each other on this point. XimiTime reports a global release of the 18 Pro model, including a list of markets – Turkey, the European Economic Area, Russia, Taiwan, and Japan, but without India. Gizmochina, in the same week, speculates that the Pro will not get a global premiere. Until Xiaomi speaks, two leaks that contradict each other stand opposed.

EEC is not a European office

One thing that articles about certifications often skip. The acronym EEC does not mean anything European – it stands for the Eurasian Economic Commission, the regulator of the Eurasian Economic Union comprising Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan. Therefore, the entry in this database does not inherently imply that the phone will arrive in the Czech Republic.

However, the practice is that manufacturers handle international certifications in a package, and EEC is often one of the first publicly traceable ones. The series premiere is expected in September in China, when Qualcomm will introduce the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.

Would you be interested in the flagship Xiaomi Pro Max, or is the basic model sufficient for you?
