Exclusive: Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm are heading to Europe. They will last up to two weeks and are expected to offer NFC

Those who were eyeing the Xiaomi Watch S5 but found the large 46mm case on their wrist more like an alarm clock should pay attention. According to our information, a smaller version of the Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm, which the manufacturer currently sells only in China, is also heading to Europe. We also learned what the watch will offer.

European version will come in two colors

In China, the smaller watch was unveiled at the end of September alongside the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max phones. Now, we have information from a source we consider reliable about the global version in two colors – black and light blue. We also have access to the watch’s manual in Czech and Slovak.

The stainless steel case will have a diameter of 41 mm and a thickness of just 9.9 mm, weighing 36 grams without the strap. A round 1.32-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels will be located on the front. Xiaomi promises peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits for the Chinese version. The watch will run on HyperOS with a new glass interface design and will also offer an interactive watch face with a pet that reacts to the weather or how much strain you’ve just experienced.

Battery lasts up to two weeks, NFC should also be present

The battery has significantly improved compared to last year’s Watch S4 41mm. It has a capacity of 590 mAh, which is 84% more than its predecessor. Xiaomi promises up to eight days of typical use and up to 14 days with power-saving settings, where the watch measures heart rate only once every ten minutes. With the always-on display, the manufacturer expects five days.

An optical heart rate sensor and, most importantly, three temperature sensors will monitor health, aiming to more accurately predict the menstrual cycle. A barometer and an electronic compass are also useful for sports and trips. The Health Summary function will summarize exercise and sleep data, the watch will help monitor calorie deficit, and plan workouts according to current fitness. They are water-resistant up to 5 ATM and connect to a phone via Bluetooth 5.4.

Further details are revealed in the manual for the global version, which we have access to. According to the list of technical parameters, the watch will receive dual-band satellite navigation with support for GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou, and QZSS systems, so it can record running or trip routes even without a phone. The manual also lists an NFC chip and Wi-Fi in the 802.11ax standard. However, it does not state whether the watch will support payments in the Czech Republic. The manufacturer has not yet said anything about payment support.

iPhone owners, however, must consider that the watch will not be able to do everything with their phone. According to the manufacturer’s notes for the Chinese version, third-party applications and health studies do not work with it, and some functions are reserved for Android phones.

Price could exceed five thousand Czech crowns

We cannot yet confirm the Czech price of the Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm with certainty, but we are working with information about an amount of 5,469 CZK. In such a case, the watch would be more expensive than the Xiaomi Watch S5 46mm at their launch (they cost 3,999 CZK then, but later increased to 4,199 CZK). However, the higher price is also supported by leaks we’ve seen from abroad, where amounts are above 240 euros (5,800 Czech crowns converted).

Regarding the launch date, it is very likely that the watch will arrive on the market along with the Xiaomi 18 Pro series. According to official manufacturer information, it will be unveiled this month.
