Welcome to the third installment of the AI at Hand series. As digital whales, we monitor developments in the field of artificial intelligence almost continuously, and we have already discovered many ways to use AI not only to speed up work but also to make many aspects of daily life more pleasant and easier. We select tips that you can use on your smartphone and that do not require knowledge of any language other than Czech. Do you have your own idea of how artificial intelligence can be helpful? Share it with us in the Community!

In the pilot episode of the AI at Hand series, we introduced you to a digital secretary who can easily record tasks, events, or ideas. We will now return to the virtual personal assistant, but this time its role will not be to record information, but to deliver it. Together, we will create a system that will remind you every evening what awaits you in your work or personal life after waking up.

Your Path to Your First Automation

If you are currently used to manually going through your mail, calendar, and task list every morning so you don’t accidentally forget an important deadline or an email from a client, I might now help you change your way of thinking. The result will be that you will give your brain a bit of a break in the morning and will be able to enjoy moments with your family or a cup of your favorite coffee instead.

Together, we will build what might be your first automation with artificial intelligence. For this, we will need the Gemini application, which we have already worked with in the two previous parts of the series. Once you install it on your smartphone, make sure you have connected Google Workspace office suite services to it (open the sidebar – tap the Settings icon – select “Connected apps” from the list and find “Google Workspace”). Without this, artificial intelligence will not have access to your emails, Google Calendar, or items in Google Tasks.

Setting Up Your Daily Reminder Summary

Once you grant Gemini access to Workspace applications, it’s time to activate the reminder summary itself. Reopen the sidebar and tap on the “Scheduled” item, which you will find at the top.

After opening it, simply enter a command in the text field at the bottom of the screen, such as “Every evening at 8:00 PM, prepare a summary of emails and important events and tasks for me so I know what awaits me the next day”.

Gemini will process the request, and in the new conversation, you will see a strip with the configured automation (in my case, the AI created the name “Evening summary and plan for tomorrow”). After clicking on it, you can adjust the repetition frequency and the specific start time, or the day when the task will stop repeating. By tapping the three-dot icon in the upper right corner and pressing the “Run” button, you can manually activate the automation, for example, if you don’t want to wait for the summary or if you want to verify that everything is working correctly.

When you set the automation for 8:00 PM, you will receive a notification from the Gemini application exactly at this time about the created daily overview. After clicking on it, you will indeed find out if there are any urgent emails in your inbox and what awaits you the next day.

Conclusion: Why is it so great?

Setup takes a few minutes, and since you don’t need a subscription, it costs exactly zero crowns. You can schedule anything you would otherwise enter daily, not just an evening summary. Just change the input: a morning weather overview before commuting to work, a Friday reminder of what you’ve put aside for next week, or a weekly summary of upcoming Calendar dates. The only rule is to clearly state when Gemini should run and what it should deliver.

How did you set up your automation?
