On Alza, however, you can get an even bigger monster: an 80,000mAh power bank from the ChoeTech brand. Many might be surprised that it costs only 1,299 CZK, but it comes with certain compromises that need to be considered.

It is thus aimed at people who don’t want to deal with charging every day and view the power bank more as a backup source than a pocket accessory.

At 1,299 CZK as a new product, it seems like a lot of bang for your buck at first glance. However, it’s fair to say that with high-capacity power banks, the advantage of capacity always comes with compromises in weight, charging speed, and portability, and this model is no exception. That’s why it makes sense to review the parameters carefully.

How much energy you actually get

For power banks, a more accurate metric is watt-hours (Wh) rather than milliamp-hours (mAh), because mAh alone says nothing without voltage. Here, the key number is 222 Wh. However, you will never use all of it: some energy is lost during conversion to 5 V when charging (efficiency is usually around 60–85%), so significantly less energy actually “flows” into phones than indicated on the box. Similarly, if you fly frequently, the 222 Wh capacity is over the airplane limit, and you cannot take it with you. And if you need to charge a laptop or want fast charging, the 22.5 W output is insufficient, and a power bank with higher output will serve you better, even at the cost of lower capacity.

Verdict: who it’s suitable for
