Anyone who spends entire evenings or workdays at the computer will first recognize a bad chair by minor discomfort and later by back pain. Alza has now discounted a popular gaming chair, of which it has already sold over 2,000 units, by almost half as part of Black Friday. At the time of writing, you can buy the Rapture GALLEY for 4,499 CZK instead of 8,990 CZK. It is only 754 CZK short of its historical low in May.

Quick summary:
✅ Makes sense for people who sit at a desk for hours and want lumbar support without buying extra cushions.
⚠️ Consider that some owners complain about creaking and smaller individuals might not find the seat height or neck pillow comfortable.
💡 For 4,499 CZK, you get a sturdy textile chair with a load capacity of 120 kg and a three-year warranty.

Articulated Lumbar Support and Four-Way Adjustable Armrests

The main attraction is the movable lumbar support built directly into the backrest. According to Alza, it is attached to a joint, so it adapts to your back when leaning. You get a separate pillow for your neck.

The backrest reclines within a range of 94 to 120° and can be locked in any position. The rocking mechanism has adjustable resistance and can be turned off. The armrests are so-called 4D – you can move them up and down, forward and backward, sideways, and rotate them. They have a lock to prevent unintentional movement. The seat height is adjusted with a gas lift between 47 and 54 cm.

Textile Upholstery, Steel Base, and Over 28 Kilograms

The upholstery is textile, which Alza highlights mainly for summer – the fabric is more breathable than leatherette and doesn’t get cold in winter. The filling is made of PUR foam. The construction stands on a steel base, the load capacity is 120 kg, and Alza recommends the chair for individuals between 160 and 190 cm tall. The plastic wheels, 65 mm in diameter, contain a rubber additive and, according to Alza, can handle carpets, tiles, or floating floors.

However, account for a weight of 28 kg. You’ll find it easier to carry the box upstairs with two people. Owners describe the assembly itself as simple: you’ll only need one included Allen key, and they say you can complete it in about 10 to 30 minutes. Alza provides a 36-month warranty on the chair.

Owners Praise Comfort, But Repeatedly Mention Creaking

On Alza, the GALLEY has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 113 customers, and 87% of them recommend it. Alza reports a complaint rate of 3.16%. In written reviews, comfort even after hours of sitting, robust construction, and a wide seat are most frequently mentioned. Many buyers explicitly highlight the lumbar support. Taller people find it comfortable; owners of 187, 193, or 196 centimeters happily write about it.

However, in approximately every fourth written review, creaking when leaning back is mentioned. For some, the chair started creaking immediately after assembly, for others after a week or a month, while others don’t mention creaking at all. One owner advises using threadlocker during assembly. Some people complain that the lumbar support presses into their back or under their shoulder blades, and one buyer received a unit with a dented backrest filling twice in a row. Several reviewers also point out that the newer version has a firmer seat than an older unit displayed in Alza’s Prague showroom.

May Not Suit Smaller Individuals

If you are less than approximately 175 cm tall, be careful. According to several reviews, the neck pillow is then too high and rests more on the head than on the neck. At least it can be removed. The seat is relatively high even in its lowest position, so smaller people might find their heels dangling when rocking.

Anyone who occasionally wants to almost lie down in the chair might encounter the 120° limit. Some owners write that you can’t recline much in it. And more sensitive ears should be aware that, according to reviews, creaking is a piece-by-piece lottery.

Taller Gamers and Home Office Workers Benefit Most

At 4,499 CZK, the GALLEY costs half of what it did throughout October. It primarily suits people around 180 cm and taller who play games all evening or work eight hours a day from home and want adjustable armrests and lumbar support in one package. It is also suitable for more robust individuals up to 120 kg, who will appreciate the wide seat and sturdy construction.

Those who are shorter should keep the option to return it and test the position of the pillow and seat immediately after assembly. And those who have been waiting for the GALLEY since May can now get it for only 754 CZK more than back then.
