We wrote about the first Xiaomi phones with stable Android 17 last week. Now, according to GSMArena, the cheaper Xiaomi 17T Pro, which only recently arrived on the market, is joining the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra models.

Xiaomi 17T Pro Joins Stable Android 17 Rollout

Based on reports from its readers, GSMArena states that the Xiaomi 17T Pro is now also receiving the Android 17 update. It thus joins the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra models, which received stable Android 17 in Europe several days ago. However, it does not yet appear that the new system will arrive on the basic Xiaomi 17T.

Xiaomi thus ranks among the very first manufacturers outside of Google to roll out stable Android 17. Pixels received it in its basic version around mid-June, and now the first phones with their own overlay are joining. For owners of more expensive models, this means that the wait for the update has been shortened to weeks, not months.

Update Weighs Around 7 GB, Yet Xiaomi Releases It as a Patch

According to GSMArena, for some reason, the update is only labeled as a security patch, even though it actually includes a transition to a new operating system. In reality, it’s a transition to a new major version of Android, so it’s definitely not a minor fix and it’s worth connecting the phone to Wi-Fi and a charger.

The overlay version number does not change: even with Android 17, Xiaomi’s software remains labeled as HyperOS 3, just like the previous version based on Android 16. At first glance, the new overlay won’t surprise, and the main novelties are brought by Android 17 itself under the hood.

Do you own any of the Xiaomi phones receiving Android 17?
